1990 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe Description

You are bidding on a very nice 1990 Corvette Coupe. If you follow me on Facebook (facebook.com/theburtcollection) you know that I owned a restoration shop. However, we only restored my own cars. I was fortunate enough to be on the lawn at Pebble Beach a few years back with a 1947 Delahaye. So, restoring cars is in my blood and a great hobby (this is not my full time vocation).

I saw this 1990 Corvette a few months ago and it required a head gasket replacement. Therefore she has new head gaskets. While repairing the head gaskets we checked the pistons, valves, etc and found them to be in excellent condition (pics available). The compression was within normal operating range. With only 245 hp, from it’s L98 engine, you’d expect it to be sluggish. While not contemporary, she is surprisingly torquey and quick. She should return nearly 20 mpg on the road (if you stay off the loud pedal). This is the last year of the C4 straight rear bumper, in 1991 they moved to the rounded rear bumper. I prefer this old school look.

We also replaced the following:

  • Ignition wires
  • Spark Plugs
  • Rotor Cap
  • O2 sensor
  • New oil and filter, of course (Mobil One synthetic)

I also like better brakes on my cars, so we added new:

  • Brake rotors all around (slotted and cross drilled) and brake pads.

We recharged the A/C system as it had to be removed to replace the head gaskets.

We also replaced thedoor thresholds with new "Corvette logo'd" units. We replaced the center consolestorage cover (they seem to always break) with a new unit (see pics). We replacedthewindow rubber on both sides and the weatherstripping - door gaskets (rubber).

Finally, we added a set of satin finished hood stripes, because they look better than a plain white hood, in my opinion.

Having owned countless Corvettes over the years, I like to add additional sound deadening to the doors as they rattle too much for my liking. This was done when the brakes and rotors were added.

We buffed the exterior, fixed a few minor paint chips and purchased (and installed) NEW emblems front and rear.

Everything works perfectly on this car. She starts right up - runs smoothly, shifts perfectly and sounds great (factory exhaust). The interior is a 8.5 out of 10 with some wear on the leather bolsters.

The exterior is also a 9 out of 10 - with the aforementioned nicks being airbrushed.

I see no evidence of accidents.

The car does have the rare FX3, three level suspension tuning (touring, sport, performance). It works perfectly also. The harshest setting does rattle your teeth a bit. I like the middle setting, firm but a nice compromise.

The seats are optional leather with lumbar support (both the driver’s and passenger seat)

The rear privacy shade is there and in excellent shape. The carpet throughout is in excellent condition and there are floor mats included (they are used and the driver’s mat is worn but passable).

The headlights work perfectly. Driving lights also work perfectly.

The aftermarket radio is very strong with a great sound, amplified with great bass. I don’t recall my other C4s having such a good system, so I assume that there is an aftermarket amp somewhere hiding - and probably better speakers. AM/FM CD player. Not sure on the bluetooth - assume it’s not.

Tires are nearly new Kuhmos - 17”. Also, the car has American Racing aluminum rims which we polished. They look great - see the pictures. I do not have the original rims. These, however, look much better and allow you to see the new rotors.

The rear hatch has been tinted. Car comes with two targa roofs, one is transparent and black, the other is white, to match the car. The original targa roof pouch is included and in great shape. The car comes with original manual and some records.

The tire pressure light comes on every once in a while and then promptly goes off. A known issue with C4s and might be compounded because of the aftermarket rims. There are no other lights present on the dash.

She does have an aftermarket, key fob activated, security system in addition to the factory system.

This is a great looking, inexpensive Corvette with no issues. Runs and drives extremely well. The underside is rust free. A perfect first Corvette or one with rare options to add to the collection.

Don’t let the mileage scare you - she has been well taken care of and is one of the best running Corvettes that I have ever owned. Bid with confidence.

This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION - so, last bidder will win this car. I answer all emails. Will also take additional photos if asked. Inspections encouraged. Please ask any/all questions before bidding. If you have less than 5 positive feedbacks, email me before bidding - or you’ll be kicked.

Due to her age, she is being sold, as is - with no warranties implied or expressed. Deposit is non-refundable.

I sold a 2003 Jaguar recently, the buyer dinged me - which made no sense. He drove 1,200 miles with the car back to NYC with no issues. So, please, either come to see the car or ask all of your questions beforehand. I hate negative feedback and want the buyer to be happy. This is a great hobby to me and I don’t want it ruined.

Please see the pictures - they tell the story of the car, but - remember, pictures always look better than the real thing. I don’t manipulate the photos but do enjoy taking them, usually at 7-8pm, when the light is the best.

You can drive this car anywhere - with no issues. I’ve put a few hundred, shake down, miles on her after the head gaskets were replaced. However, I can also assist with shipping.

Deposit due within 48 hours, balance within a week. I can hold the car for a reasonable period of time. It is safely in my garage.

Good Luck.
