1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport Description

1972 Chevelle SS Tribute Car

Up for auction is a 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle that started its life as a bucket seat with a console Malibu that was a daily driver for years. CLEAR TITLE IN MY NAME with the original Build Sheet and Potect-O-Plate. This was a factory V8 car with 350/350 motor and transmission and 10 bolt rear end. This car has spent most of its life in North Carolina after being purchased in Newport News VA on April 4, 1972. The car is a ONE OWNER with 81847 original miles. This has been verified from the original owner who has also been my next door neighbor for 18 years. And in those 18 years the car has NEVER left the driveway. I acquired the car 5 years ago to restore. The undercarriage, floor and trunk floor are in remarkably great shape. You will notice in the pictures a lot of new sheet metal. It wasn't from rust. It was from daily bumps and dings and when I stripped the body I did not want any bondo in the panels. The hood is a functional cowl induction hood. There is only minor surface rust on the floor pans. No rot. The 2 lower panels on both rear quarter panels need attention and I am including new left and right quarter panels and rear lower valance. Everything has been purchased to make this a true SS tribute car. This car has the original Jack but no spare tire. The original color is Placer Gold with black bucket seat interior and black vinyl top. The 4 wheels are original SS wheels but NO tires or beauty rings. You will need to bring some wheels and tires to load car. It does have a factory air conditioning and the evaporator housing has already been restored(see pictures). Interior is all complete and restored and includes all new door panels, carpet, headliner, Super Sport dash and round gauges, new wiring harness with the SS only glove box and AC vent. I have ALL the chrome for the car and just needs to be polished. The original bumpers were re-chromed by Tri-City plating. All glass is in great shape no windshield. All seatbelts are there including shoulder straps seatbelts. The great news is that the floor, the frame, the trunk floor are in great shape. Around windshield and rear window I don’t see that there was ever rust problems or on drip roof and this is where most of the cars have their cancer. Overall this car has great potential to be a high end value car. The suspension is the F41 components strictly used on SS cars and include a completely rebuilt 12 bolt posi rear end with 3:73 gears, boxed lower control arms and rear sway bar. The engine is a CORRECT coded engine for a 1972 Chevelle. The block casting number is 3999290 with a casting date of J29 71 (October 1971). The engine suffix is CTB which translate to 1972 Chevelle 402 ci with turbo 400 transmission. The entire engine is a numbers matching engine. It has been completely rebuilt by Rouzer Motor parts of Salisbury, NC January of last year. The crank was polishe, rods resized, and the block was bored .030 over with new pistons. The heads have all new competition cams valve springs and new valves and guides. The camshaft is the Competition Cams Muther Thumper camshaft for a more pronounced exhaust sound. The intake is a stock cast iron quadrajet 4bbl. This engine was only 240 HP from the factory. The turbo 400 has also been rebuilt by Lee's Transmission of Salisbury in May of last year. Deep pan with mild shift kit and B&M 2800 stall convertor. I know the box says TCI but that was for another project and I only had the TCI box to put the B&M convertor in. This can really be a very easy simple and easy project with great end value. Most people just take a Malibu and put SS emblems and call it a tribute car. This is about as real of a deal to a True SS as you can possibly get. I know there are things I am forgetting and this has been a long description so feel free to email me and ask any questions. I just have way too many projects going and need to liquidate many of them and concentrate on just 2. Buyer pays all shipping charges.
