1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Description

This is the first time this car has been listed. Please call Doug at 913-461-4890 with any questions or to arrange a purchase. Please do NOT text. Most texts are scammers. I can add a "buy it now" feature if you want to ensure you get the car and not someone else bidding in the last few seconds of the auction.
This is a gorgeous, honest, and original matching #s 1st year C3 convertible that was restored approximately 7 years ago and has just been freshened up for Spring cruising. It sports its original 327 V8 and smooth-shifting 4-speed, power steering, and is professionally refinished in its original colors of Silverstone metallic over black leather. This was an Oklahoma car most of its life, so is super clean, with no rust or cracks in the body, including around the headlight doors. Paint is very nice, with a deep, even shine. Chrome is original and in surprisingly good condition for being so. The top is black and in nice condition (soft top only), with no rips or damage, and it goes up and down with ease. I forgot to take pics of the top, but can do so quickly, just email or call, but in any case, top is near perfect. The black interior includes new door panels, carpet, and original leather seats in good condition with no rips or tears. Dash pad is super nice with no warping or cracks. All gauges (including the tach) work except for the clock. The factory AM/FM radio does not work, but I didn't test it as it didn't matter to me. This is not an AC car, and frankly, 1) Hardly any of these cars came with AC when new, and 2) Unless you live in a desert, the number of times you'd actually need AC on a 2 seat convertible is negligible.
Engine is the numbers matching 327/300hp, and has correct valve covers, air cleaner, and distributor shielding. Carburetor and headers are not original. 4 speed shifts nice and smooth with no issues and smooth, easy clutch action (not annoyingly stiff like many other restorations). This Vette starts, runs, drives, turns, and stops very well, with no hidden surprises. Headlights work perfectly, as does the wiper door. Undercarriage is clean and rust-free, and has had suspension pieces such as end links and various bushings replaced as needed when car was restored. All glass on the car is in good shape.
It is obvious upon inspection this Corvette has had an easy life and has spent most (if not all) of its nights indoors. Recent work includes all new brake calipers, new 235/60/15 BFG Radial TA tires, new switches for headlights and wiper door, new shift boot, stainless exhaust tips, engine detail, and a wet sand/polish of the paint. Body gaps are nice (given it's a fiberglass car), paint is even, with a deep shine, and no noticeable flaws or work needed. Having said that, this is not a 1000 pt NCRS car. If you want one of those, prepare to pay much much more somewhere else.
Compare this car in terms of originality and quality to the mismatched, wrong-colored, non-matching others out there and I'm sure you'll figure out what a nice find this Corvette is. Not only that, I KNOW this car is priced $10,000 or more less than what most other collector car dealers are charging for similar cars.
IMPORTANT, READ THIS: I'm reasonable, but do not ask me what the reserve is. Do not ask me "what's your bottom dollar." If you can't be bothered to evaluate the car and make a serious bid or "buy it now" offer, I won't be bothered to take you seriously. Besides, it defeats the purpose of the auction, and I'm not negotiating against myself. Also, I've tried to describe the car in detail and accurately. but I can't possibly know every detail about the car. If you're a particularly anal-retentive "even the most insignificant things bug me" type, I will demand you personally inspect the car before purchase. This ain't my first rodeo, and nothing sucks more than someone who asks few/no questions, then calls to complain the valve stem cap is incorrect or other ridiculous nonsense. This is a nearly 50 year old Chevy, not a 50 day old Lexus.
$500 NON-Refundable deposit due within 3 business days of auction close, no exceptions (unless you're just paying for the whole thing during that period). Full payment due within 7 business days of auction close. Sold AS IS, with NO WARRANTY expressed or implied. Title is clean and ready to be signed over. I can help make all shipping arrangements, but buyer is responsible for all associated costs. Car does not leave my possession until paid in full, no exceptions. No I do not want your trade.
