1916 Chevrolet Model Four Ninety Roadster Pickup - Serial 150968
1916 Chevrolet Roadster Pickup Description
The model four ninety Chevrolet was built in the spring of 1915 and this was the first time it was made available for sale to the public. Electric start, 3 speed standard transmission, missing speedometer cables, but shows 538 miles. Our little truck is from Northeast Iowa.(Waukon). It was purchased by us from a Chevy dealer there in the mid 70’s - Mark Mause Chevrolet. At that time it was last driven in the Centennial parade in 1960, bringing it out of storage from the upstairs of the dealership, for the parade- the first time since the 1930’s. Mark Mause Chevrolet in Waukon, Iowa told me he bought it in the 1930 depression years from a farmer that was down on his luck. We have the original title with 5 cent Notary Republic Stamp from Alamakee County, Iowa as well as paperwork form the dealership. We have sent the numbers of our truck to Hemmings Motor News and they said it was built in a rented warehouse in Detroit by Lewis Chevrolet and his team before they started production in 1917. Since acquiring this truck in the mid 1970’s it has been stored indoors and only recently brought out of storage. Questions contact - roseewol@charter.net or karine@tds.net
