1963 Chevrolet Nova Chevy II Description
I have included lots of pictures and detailed description.PLEASE read it all before bidding. Any questions, please ask BEFORE bidding, I check e-mail every day.
I purchased this car about 10 years ago with the intention to restore but have way too many projects and would like to see this one go to a new home and maybe actually get finished.
This was an unfinished project when I bought it and I have done little to it except for upgrading the suspension. This would be a great candidate for restoration or with little effort it could be on the road as a cool patina/rat rod. Very solid project overall.
I would estimate the car has more than 90% of its parts, with just small items missing. There is NO side trim, dash knobs missing, sunvisors, etc. Basically, you get everything you see in these photos and that is all there is and any small items needed are readily available on Ebay or aftermarket.
Drivetrain - has the original 6-cylinder and Powerglide transmission. NO radiator or shroud is included.Engine was running when I purchased it but smoking bad. I tried to crank it last month just for kicks. It turns over easily but I could not get it to fire and didn’t feel like changing out ignition parts so I left it alone. Just assume they need rebuilding. I have a nice rebuilt 283 for sale separately and can discuss with buyer as a package deal if interested.Suspension - I have converted it to 5-lug front and rearend from a 1965 Nova. Brakes all need a rebuild. The rear suspension is a custom triangulated 4-link similar to the Ridetech Airbar or Chris Alston G-bar system. I had it set up with coilover shocks but they have been removed as I was planning on going to airbags but never finished. Rear suspension is about 80% complete with the hard part finished for you. Needs a simple crossmember built and air bags or coilovers to finish. Could be easily converted back to stock leaf springs if desired.Wheels and tires – has 13” 5-lug wheels and some very beat up dog dish hubcaps, but they look really cool to me. Tires are old but they still look great.Interior – all seat frames are there but obviously need full restoration. Headliner bows are all there.Floorpans – see photos. Needs front pans but the damage has not gone too far up into the toeboard nor into the frame. Pans just behind the front seat have multiple small holes. Cargo area looks very solid with only surface rust.Roof is in very good shape with only minor surface rust.Hood – very solid OEM 1962 hoodQuarters – driver rear has had some metal patching done, a passable job that could be finished up with not much Bondo. Some minor welding still needed to install the fabricated metal box/well shown in the photo. Passenger quarter and spare tire well is solid.Doors – very solid, only one small patch or repair needed that I can see.Fenders - need lower patches on both and at least one small patch on top of driver fender. Both are salvageable.Bumpers - both there, nice original cores to be re-chromed or passable driver condition.Tailgate – this is unfortunately the worst part condition-wise. It could be saved with a lot of patching if you can’t find a replacement. Missing window crank. Conversion to electric window is a common one using Suburban parts. All glass looks good and usable, except windshield has some pretty major scratches. The rear quarter glasses and tailgate glass are not installed but are there and in good shape. All wiring is gone and most weatherstripping has been removed. Sold withBill of Sale as that is all that is required in GA, but I do have a clear title to it in a previous owner’s name.I bought it from a dealer in South GA.Included is the original receipt when the car was purchased new from the dealership.
Car is located about one hour drive southwest of Atlanta, GA. You will need a trailer, car rolls easily but obviously does not drive.
