This little gem has had an amateur restoration back in the 1980's and has been in storage for much of the past 30 years. It runs and drives but could use some TLC. The body is straight and was repainted in it's original Roman Red. The paint is not of the highest quality but the car looks good from 10 feet. Most of the body appears very solid, but there are a few spots where the paint is popping and I suspect some bondo or rust is lurking below. This is most evident in the area of the driver side rear rocker and lower quarter. The floors had been patched and fiberglassed over on the inside but evidence of the original repairs are still noticeable from underneath. However, the doors, hood and trunk lid are pretty much rust free andclose solidly. The front and rear valance panels appear to be relatively solid and show no major damage. The trunk floor is solid with no significant rust damage or holes. The engine bay also appears to be solid and original.
The car starts right up but could use some carb work as one of the carbs butterfly is stuck open. The other carb appears to be a newer replacement. The automatic Powerglide transmission shifts well in forward and reverse. The engine leaks some oil and trans fluid as the seals and gaskets are probably dried out from sitting. The car drives well once warmed up, but the front right brake grabs and will lock up under hard braking. The radial tires are in great condition and appear to have very few miles on them.
All the glass is good and clear and the windows work smoothly. All gauges appear to function and even the radio works! Most electrical equipment is functional but the bright switch is stuck on and there is one bright headlight out. Also, the backup lights don't seem to work (bulbs?)
The interior is in good condition overall with what appears to be newer upholstery and carpet. The worst spot is a seam split in the drivers seat. Also, the drivers kick panel has been damaged and has been "repaired" with red tape. The dash panel was resprayed long ago and the paint is flaking. There are also a few tight cracks in the vinyl.
The newer convertible top is in very good condition with no rips or tears and nice coloration. I suspect it has remained lowered since installed. Even the back window is exceptionally clear. The top well fabric may be original and is starting to show it's age.
The car is available for pickup in Eagle River, WI. I may be able to assist with transportationfor an agreed upon fee.
Overall, this cool little convertible would make a fun driver with minimal tuning and tweaking. I have tried to describe it frankly and honestly, but please check out the photos and feel free to ask questions before bidding, then...BID TO OWN!!!
