1948 Chevrolet Other Pickups deluxe Description

NO RESERVE! you are bidding to own the truck, there is NO buy it now price, it will sell for whatever the bid is at the end of the auction.
You are looking at a 1948 chevy 1/2 ton short bed 5 window truck, rat rod style, obviously! The truck has had lots of recent work done to it to make it inhabitable and drivable.Besides cleaning out decades worth of dirt and snake skins, the interior has had the original seat re-padded and recovered in the original style covering, the floor has been repaired and covered with truck bed liner for protection and ease of cleaning. A B&M shifter with 8 ball handle was added for a little old school flavor. The door latches have been replaced with new ones, most of the glass has been replaced with new, along with the seals. (rear glass was left in because it looks cool) the body has been clear coated, it brings out the natural beauty of what nature did to the colors. The truck is 70 years old, so yes, there are dents, dings, imperfections, rust...CHARACTER! Still solid for it age! I don't believe any body work has ever been done to it, no body filler was found, and no pain, so no surprises! It even has the original reflectors on the tailgate, with all the marbles still intact. The wiring has been replaced with modern wires, now its 12 volt, the cloth covered stuff was past it for sure! A new turn signal switch, dimmer switch, ignition switch, 12 volt headlight bulbs, front turn signal bulbs and LED tail lights were added for safety. An aluminum gas tank was installed on new wood slats in the bed. A chevy 250 6 cylinder and th350 automatic with 40k miles was installed. It also has a new aluminum radiator with electric fan, New fuel lines were run up to a new fuel pump. Engine is a more "modern" unit as it is from the 1970's, so it is a stronger, lighter design as well as having the HEI distributor. It starts right up and runs like the proverbial sewing machine! The exhaust has a glass pack muffler for just a little attitude, not too loud! A gm 10 bolt rear axle was also installed for better drivability.New king and link pins were installed, along with a new disc brake conversion kit for the front. New power brake booster and new master cylinde, all new hard and soft lines round out the brake system. All 4 tires are new, rears are slightly bigger than the front for a little rake. Chrome Buick steel wheels give it a little different look than the usual plain steel wheels.Im sure I forgot some details of what has been done, and there is always some more that could be done to make it better/faster/ more your own, but that's part of the fun, right? The truck has been driven around the block and is as fun as can be! It has not been driven very far, or fast, (no tags,no insurance and no seat belts), but I believe it to be just fine for tooling around town to the ice cream shop, or the hardware store, so no, I would not drive it cross country at 80MPH, at least not till seat belts were installed and a few miles were put on it. The truck is being sold at no reserve, and no warranty, $500 deposit is due at the end of the auction and is not refundable, If you are bidding, you are BUYING the truck, not the right of first refusal! Truck will come with a new, clean title, matched to the body cereal number, not the engine block, so if you wanted to swap for a bigger engine, no problem! You are welcome to ask questions, or to come see it in person and I will do my best to accommodate you. Thanks for looking!
