Up for bids is this really nice '38 Chevrolet Master. This car received a complete cosmetic and mechanical restoration in 2016 and has been driven approximately 2500 miles since. Although it appears stock, the car has many subtle modifications that make it a super reliable driver. A 1961 235ci motor has been installed, backed by a 5 speed manual transmission from a S-10, both of which have been freshly rebuilt. Suspension and brake modifications have been made as well, which are described further below. The car has ZERO rust anywhere, and undercarriage photos are provided below. Look for more information written alongside the photos that follow, there's over 60 photos to show every aspect of this car. Feel free to email any questions you may have. The reserve is LOW (please don't ask) and I can help arrange shipping worldwide. Thanks for looking!
The car was repainted in a 1976 Cadillac color, Demitasse Brown. The paint finish is beautiful, and the body panels are all super straight.
All new glass, window seals, and weatherstripping were installed during the repaint.
New Coker Classic whitewalls in 6.00-16.
Tight and clean from every angle.
Nicely done pinstriping work.
1938 Chevs tended to ride high, this car has been lowered 2" and sits just right.
The car has been converted to 12V. All lights, signals and accessories work, and 2-spd electric wipers have been added.
Some paint scratches in this area, where an acccordian luggage carrier was mounted. It's included. This spot is probably the car's biggest flaw.
The entire interior has been redone, from the carpet to the headliner, and all points in between.
All gauges work and show good readings.
A 12V outlet has been installed. A second fan was added under the dash, it supplies extra air to the defrost vents.
Very nicely done headiner and visors.
Everything works except for the clock. The car has all new wiring, and a modern fuse block has been fitted.
A small crack in the glass is pictured below.
Nicely finished trunk contains an unused spare.
The 235ci Six fires easily and runs STRONG! Great running motor. With the 5 speed transmission, this car is definitely freeway capable. A driving video can be seen by clicking here.
Clean and rust free undercarriage. The front axle is from a '57 Chev truck, the rear is a rebuilt 1956 unit with a 3.50:1 ratio. Driveshaft is from a '74 Nova that's been shortened.
New poly fuel tank.
Dual circuit master cylinder added, along with all new brake components. The car stops straight and true.
Engine rebuild and other receipts from the restoration are included, as well as a shop manual and owner's manual.
