This 1957 Chevrolet Corvette is a fuel-injected, 4-speed manual example that underwent a body-off restoration in the early 1990s, including a full repaint... and refreshed interior. Recently acquired by the selling dealer, the car is equipped with its correct EL code 283ci V8, which was rebuilt by the previous owner in 2014. The car was judged by the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) in 1995 and received a Top Flight award, while additional recognition included a Chevy Vettefest Silver Spinner Award the same year. This C1 Fuelie is now offered with a clean Arizona title and several photos documenting the restoration process, as well as receipt and invoices from the restoration and engine rebuild. The fiberglass body was removed from the frame and repainted in its proper Onyx Black during the early 1990s restoration. The new black soft top is shown raised above and displays a clear rear backlight and no apparent rips or tears. Several photos are included in the gallery to document the restoration process. The 15 steel wheels have factory spinner hubcaps and wear tubeless whitewall tires. Note the fuel injection badging on the body-color coves. The interior has been refreshed with new upholstery and carpets in the correct red color. Detailed photos of the gauges, switchgear, and materials are provided in the gallery below. The car was optioned from the factory with a heater and the AM Wonder bar signal seeking radio. The odometer currently displays 1,939 miles and was reset at the time of restoration. Featuring a Rochester mechanical fuel injection, the rebuilt 283ci V8 was rated by Chevrolet at 283 horsepower and is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission in this car. The engine is correctly dated to the car and was rebuilt in 2014. A photo of the matching block stamping F702EL is shown below, displaying the Flint (F) production code, July 02 build date (702), and the 283 horsepower (EL) specification. The 4-speed manual transmission became an available option after May of 1957. Several undercarriage pictures have been provided that display the condition of the frame and suspension. The car received an NCRS Top Flight award in 1995 with a score of 96.64, and a Chevy Vettefest Silver Spinner Award the same year. The NCRS score sheet is shown in the gallery, and the car is sold with the original owners manual, a period sales brochure, and what is reported by the previous owner to be the original distributor cap and spark plugs. Additional documentation accompanying the sale include invoices for both the restoration and engine rebuild.
