I have a uniquely original, Flint built, all matching numbers restored LS6 for sale, as it retains a very high percentage of its’ original “ Born With “ GM parts and components. I purchased this car approximately 9 years ago and it came with all the Dealer paperwork and a lot of receipts the original owner had saved during his ownership. With the information I had from the Dealer paperwork, I was able to track down the original owner who was alive and well. He eagerly provided me with a complete history of the car, he also still had the original Window sticker tucked away after all these years, that I was able to purchase from him. From his info, I learned that I am the 4th owner but only the 3rd title holder. Only the first 2 owners put the 78K on the odometer and the car has sat idle since circa 1978. He also told me that he pulled the LS6 motor out of the car when it had 29K on it and put a small block in it because he couldn’t keep gas in it. That explained to me how this car after all these years, still had the original, block, heads, intake, carb, water pump, alternator, brackets, pulleys etc.
Car Description: 1970 Chevelle LS6 454-450hp, M22, 4.10 Positraction 78-78 Black Cherry, Cowl Induction, Tach and Gauges, Black interior, Bucket Seats, 4-speed no console, AM-FM 8 Track Stereo, Auxiliary Lighting, Door Edge Guards and Front Bumper guards
As for the restoration itself, I have used and restored every single part that I could from the day the car rolled off the assembly line. The car was carefully disassembled and everything was bagged, tagged and catalogued. I have a Photobucket account which enables 3rd party hosting. I have 150 good pictures of the car and its’ condition when I first took ownership and it came down to Fl. I also have close to 700 pictures to document the restoration of all the drivetrain, components and metal. I also have 72 more detailed pictures of the finished car as I can only list 24 here. These pictures will show the before and after, of the work that went into this car. I also have 8 pages in a Microsoft Word file that details every single casting code, date code, and factory stamping. These casting numbers, casting dates and stampings can all be crossed referenced in the 850 pictures. The 8 pages also list all the “Born With” components as well as all the NOS pieces that I needed for this restoration. These are some of the vendors that I used for this restoration and their work goes without saying: Eric @ Vintage Carb, Steve Gregory, John Pirckle, Jeff Dotterer, Chris White, Steve Hackel, Horn Works, Whitepost, Space Coast Plating, Palm Beach Plating, Jackson Speaker, Gardiner Exhaust, Snake Oyl and Crane’s Corvette to name some of them. The complete drivetrain has been rebuilt with about 10 hours of run time on the motor and the car has a few trips around the block for the trans. and rear.
Here are just a few tidbits of information about what this car is all about and still retains as it rolled from the assembly line: Original C.I. Rubber seal on the air cleaner, all the original windshield wiper system hoses, original radiator tag, original radiator shroud, original windshield washer tank and monitor system, all the hose and horn clips, Z bar hardware and felt washer, clutch spring, original U joints have never been removed from the driveshaft, original date coded rotors, dust shields, dust caps, caliper brackets and calipers, original intermediate harness, trunk and rear lamp harness, front and rear window stainless restored, re-chromed bumpers, bumper guards, door handles and hood pins. These are just a few tidbits that will give anyone a quick insight of how I approached this restoration. Even if some the original parts showed some signs of age but were still good to use, I used them because they came with the car from the factory. There is also not 1 re-stamped part of any LS6 component on this car. There are 100's of fakes out there but this car is 100% the real deal. There is so much more to say about this car but it’s too much to list here.
I also need to say that I did change 2 items on this car as it sits today. It originally came with manual steering and I was able to buy a March 1970 complete LS6 power steering set up, box, pump and with the original 3941105DD deep groove pulley. I could not stand the Muncie shifter, so I installed a brand new Hurst Competition Plus shifter and modified a new Muncie handle to fit. An original Muncie shifter and unrestored handle will come with the car. I was also forced to use a battery topper due to the current situation of not being able to buy the correct battery for it.
For anyone who may be interested in this car, I will happily forward all the Photobucket links and the Microsoft Word Document detailing every aspect of this car. You can call me anytime between 7:00am – 8pm EST. and I will forward these links and documents. Inspections are Welcomed and Encouraged, the car is available for inspection by appointment during normal business hours and it will be on a lift for a thorough inspection. Mike 561-222-5216
