1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Description

This is that proverbial car that was driven by a little old lady to church and back on Sundays. Sort of. It was to work and back, but the little old lady part is true. It stayed in its home town of Elkton, KY all its life and spent most of that time under a car port. So here is your chance to buy a nice, survivor Monte Carlo. The Monte Carlo was designed and marketed as a personal luxury car, and it fit the bill very well. It was sporty but comfortable with a style all its own. That style starts with a coke bottle shape as the fenders bulge out a bit similar to the Chevelle, because this car has some V8 muscle and wants to show it. The hood was stretched a bit following the styling cues that people seemed to like so much on its Grand Prix cousin, and then this one was coated in Mulsanne Blue and received a vinyl roof. It's the original paint on the car, which is one of those things that earns it the "survivor" badge of honor, and it still looks good. Up front a chrome grill of horizontal lines leads the way with a Monte Carlo crest in the center. Its underlined by a good looking bumper and flanked by round headlights with square chrome bezels. Chrome dresses out the wheel wells and the rocker moldings as well and there is another nice bumper out back with vertical taillights on the outer edges. Open the door and you will find a Blue interior that is original and in excellent condition. The door panel itself sets the look with buttons highlighting a rectangular pattern sewn into the vinyl along with a carpeted lower edge. Inside, the comfortable split bench seat echoes that pattern in cloth. There is a two-spoke steering wheel with Monte Carlo in script with a column shifter for the automatic trans. Behind it is a nice burled wood toned dashboard with the speedo in the center, fuel gauge to the left, clock to the right and engine indicators on either side of those. The wood grain reaches over to capture the ventilation controls and the AM/FM radio. There is a comfortable back seat, perfect for traveling in although its doubtful anyone has sat back there more than once or twice, and a good-sized trunk for loading up for a road trip. Pop the hood and you will not find any surprises. It is a completely stock, tried and true, 350 cubic inch engine with signs that it has received good regular maintenance with a newer battery, radiator and master cylinder present. Underneath the car a new exhaust system keeps the car running quietly and the power this engine makes flows back through a 3-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels. There are power front disc brakes that can haul this car down from speed in a hurry and the rubber meets the road through 225/75R15 white wall tires mounted on sharp looking Rally wheels with polished trim rings and center caps. Here's your chance to buy a nice, low mileage Monte Carlo that was driven by a little old lady. Really.
