This is a one owner 1987 Chevrolet 1500 series 4 wheel drive Suburban that was originally bought as a family car. I put 150,000 miles on it and then decided to do a full restoration and upgrade.
We installed a 1994 Camaro LT1 engine with Corvette Valvo Covers and headers by SLP that we had coated inside and out. We then installed a Vortech supercharger for 100hp gain along with a high performance mass airflow sensor. We used a Howell F1 injection harness with a Crane Capacitor Discharge ignition. The engine has March pulleys with a Stewart high flow water pump. We fed the exhaust into a Flowmaster muffler with one exhaust pipe.
The truck utilizes a 700 R4 GM Transmission built by Rossler Transmission of Gerard, Ohio (street and strip spec.) We then installed a Stewart 4:11 axle gear with a GM Positraction. It has a Hellwig rear stabilizer and front brakes by Stainless Steel. The truck sits on 305x70R16 Wrangler tires on 16x8 Wheel Vintique Rally Sport, powder coated in red with beauty rings and 1967 center caps.
The truck was de-chromed, replacement GM front fenders were installed and the body was lifted up off the frame. The frame was then sandblasted and repainted. The truck was repainted in the original gray over black, hand lettered and striped. The interior was lined with a sound deadening material. New carpets and headliner were installed and the front seats were re-upholstered. It also has auto meter tachometer and boost gauge.
A Sony radio was installed along with a CB radio. It has CIBIE driving lights and additional rear back up lights. It has 134a refrigerant for the AC (recently recharged) and a new heater coil.
The truck is “BIG”, extremely quick and quiet. No expense was spared. Less than 1000 miles were put on it since the rebuild.
There are only 3 problems. The headliner is loose in a couple of areas. There is a split in the dashboard and there is evidence of bubbles in the driver door jam.
