1980 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 Description

I have a lot to say about my car, so please take time to read the entire listing. My eBay rating of 100% goes back over 20 years, so you can be quite confident in what I tell you.
I bought this car in June, 2015 with 30K original miles. It was sold new in Florida, and had been in storage since 2007 as part of a collection in Florida. I shipped it to Texas, where I surrendered the original Florida title. Texas marked the new title "exempt" on mileage. The car currently has just under 36K miles. I've kept it in my garage, covered, and have only driven it in perfect T-Top weather.
The car has had one respray (I don't know how long ago) and it is stunning. The body panels are all original with no damage and no rust. The interior is original in outstanding condition. The engine bay is original condition with original 350 engine. The AC compressor is the only concession to modernization, as I had it upgraded two years ago. This car is NOT restored, as you can see by close inspection of the engine block paint and the undercarriage. NOTHING has been covered or hidden. The car is pure and stock. Every item on the car is in working condition. Please note this car has Fisher T-Tops, which means GM built it that way. If they are not on the build sheet/window sticker, they are not GM.
Things I've done in 3 years:
  • New Tires - Old ones looked brand new, but were 14 years old.
  • Upgraded AC - VERY cold
  • New original style mufflers
  • New shocks
  • Rear end serviced with new axle bearings
  • New radiator, water pump, and all hoses
  • Rebuilt carburetor
  • New alternator
I paid for a professional photo shoot. Over 100 hi-res photos at the url below.

Exterior -The paint is high quality with only a couple of very tiny marks that aren't readily noticeable. It is shiny and the stripes are in great shape. The body is laser straight, with no hint of rust. The T-Tops are secure and do not have noticeable leaks, although I've only had them in to wash the car. They have the original covers and all are in excellent condition. The tires have less than 1000 miles. The air induction system on the hood works as it should. All glass appears original with no cracks. Custom fitted Cover King cover included with sale.
Trunk -The trunk has the original inflatable spare with jack and original carpet. I replaced the springs that hold up the deck lid, but it only lifts about a foot due to the weight of the spoiler; hence the prop rod in the pics.
Interior - The upholstery, console, dash, dash pad, etc. are all original and in great condition. There is VERY slight fading on the top of the back seats from sun, earlier in the car's life. The original AM-FM radio has been replaced with a period correct Jensen AM-FM cassette. I do not know if the player works, but the radio does. All controls work as they should, including power windows, cruise, and yes, the clock and dome light. The carpet has a bit of wear under the drivers feet and the original floor mats are stained, but they are original from 1980. There are some scratches on top of the steering column and a couple of small ones on the console.
Drivetrain - The original engine shows typical patina for the age and mileage. I keep it detailed, but have not painted over anything or changed the overall condition during my ownership. To the best of my knowledge, the engine is stock/original. The original turbo 350 automatic transmission shifts smoothly with no hesitation, bumps, skips, or other areas of concern. After driving the car, there sometimes will be ONE drop of oil from the rear main seal on the garage floor.
Undercarriage - As you can see in the photos, the undercarriage has not been painted, restored, patched up, or otherwise manipulated for sale purposes.
I've described the car to the best of my ability with the understanding this is the condition of the car at the time of the listing. It is almost 40 years old, so anything could potentially go wrong at any time. You are buying the car AS-IS, Where IS, in Pflugerville, TX (Austin).
