1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Description

This nasty 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS doesn't do anything small. From the fresh 454 GM crate motor to the tires to the color, this is an apex predator in every sense of the word. It's one of those cars that was built for combat first and everything else came second. We're sure you don't mind. The shiny black body on this Chevelle definitely gets attention, so be ready for it. The paint gets a lot of the credit, because these cars look best in black, and while it isn't perfect, it's ideal for driving. Bodywork is good all around, with factory-style gaps and a lot of attention lavished on the little stuff like the crease that runs from nose to tail, which stands out when rendered in dark colors. Then there's the cowl induction hood that's held down with a set of chrome hood pins, all topped by a set of painted-on white SS stripes. A blacked-out SS grille with bright chrome accents, shiny bumpers, and SS badges add some extra eye appeal, and this car succeeds simply because it sticks to the factory look, not because of add-ons from a catalog or extroverted graphics. Like many cars of the period that were built with performance in mind, the interior is basic. That means factory bucket seats with vinyl upholstery so it's very low maintenance. The seat covers are older and show some wear, but new ones are inexpensive and easy to install if you want perfection. The door panels have the right pattern and SS emblems, while the gauges are now bright Dakota Digital displays that look awesome. There's a Hurst T-handle for the 4-speed manual gearbox and there's even a decent-sounding AM/FM stereo system with speakers on the package shelf for entertainment when you're not running hard. The trunk is pretty clean and includes a reproduction mat. Clearly built to run, the engine bay is more than just pretty. That's a fresh 454 cubic inch V8 crate motor from GM Performance Parts that was installed in October 2017 with remaining GM warranty. With forged internals, 4-bolt mains, forged aluminum pistons, and a hydraulic roller cam, it's built for reliability. Up top here's a Holley 4-barrel carburetor on a BowTie intake manifold and an HEI ignition system to light it up. A giant Champion radiator keeps it cool, aided by a pair of electric fans, and power steering and brakes are both included, with the brakes being entirely new from booster to pads. It's backed by a Richmond T10 4-speed manual gearbox and a 12-bolt rear, so breakage is pretty much a non-issue and you'd better believe it's quick! The floors are in good order and provide a simple black background for those gorgeous long-tube headers and fresh Flowmaster dual exhaust system with chrome tips just under the rear bumper. The suspension gives it just the right stance, and the wheel wells are totally stuffed with 19- and 20-inch American Racing aluminum wheels and staggered 235/45/19 and 275/35/20 performance radials. Big, fast, and black, this Chevelle makes a bold statement. Fortunately, it has the hardware to back it up. Call today!
