1970 Chevelle SS 396 convertible.

VIN 136670B144770

1 of 7141 Chevelle convertibles built in 1970 with a V8 engine.

Built in Baltimore Maryland the 1st week of February 1970.

L-34 396 Block: 3969854, CTW T0213 (Feb 13th), 10A137518

Original Heads: 3964290B1170.

Original Intake manifold: 3855287

The engine was built the same month as the car, (February 1970) but is not original to the car.

Most of the photos are from last weekend in Cincinnati at the Cavalcade of Customs car show February 11th - 13th.It took 2ndplace.

Original colors: Astro Blue exterior with Medium Blue interior.

Black stripes, black top.

Bucket seats, 4 speed console, tilt steering wheel, power steering, power disk brakes.

Original to the car as with all original Chevelle SS;

The steering shaft rag joint is bolted on, not pressed on.

3/8” fuel lines, not 5/16”

Rear frame stabilizer bars for big blocks.

1.25” front sway bar.

F41 suspension with rear sway bar and heavy duty coil springs.

The engine was rebuilt by HRT Performance to original factory specs with exception of the Pertronix Run-Ready Distributor and the oversize cam and valve springs. The cam is:552/555 110* lobe separation. The original style Quadrajet carburetor was specifically built for this engine and dyno jetted and tuned. A new 4 core radiator and New Dougs Headers were installed, it also comes with the original exhaust manifolds.

Rated at 400HP, this engine was Dyno tested, jetted and tuned by BES Racing Engines before installation.Quiet and dependable, it runs absolutely beautiful.Nearly 12K invested in the engine and transmission alone.Installed in November 2017, I have put just under 1000 miles on the car since.Approximately 60400 miles on the odometer, clean Indiana title in my name.

TheMuncie M20/2:52, 4 speed: Case: 3925660 (1968-1970), Date code: P9R26A = 1969, October, 26thwas completely rebuilt by Fail Safe Transmission.

The rear end in the car is a 2.73, 12 bolt posi-traction.The car also comes with its original code CCF 3.31 posi-traction date coded 0116B1 (January 16th1970, Buffalo 1stshift).There are absolutely no issues with the original rear end, I only removed it because it was geared too low for highway use. Both rear ends come with the car.

All new Moog front end ball joints and bushings and all new Moog coil springs. All new Delco shock absorbers. All new BF Goodrich 245-60-14 tires mounted on original SS rally wheels.

This Chevelle was absolutely rust free when I had it stripped down to bare metal and repainted the original Astro Blue in December 2017.More than 10K went into paint work and emblems. All original GM metal, floors, trunk, everything, the VIN shows clearly on the quarter panes just inside the lip of the trunk. All in very good original condition with no sign of accident damage. The floor pans and frame remain untouched and are absolutely solid. There is no undercoating other than what came from the factory.

All of the original tinted glass and chrome is in very good condition with very minor blemishes for its age, clear and bright including the glass rear window. Most of the hood, trunk and door bumpers have been replaced, all are in good shape.

The original dash and steering wheel have no cracks and look excellent. The weather stripping is in good original condition, some of which has been replaced. I just replaced both universal joints, I also had the driveshaft balanced and painted as well.

Everything on this Chevelle works as it should, the turn signals cancel properly, all interior and exterior lights, gauges, cigarette lighter, wipers, vents, heat, fan, all locks: door, trunk and glovebox, everything!

I removed all interior panels and greased all window rollers, snugged every bolt and adjusted the stops as necessary. All four windows roll up and down effortlessly and the doors close solid with no rattles. Both doors open and close nicely with no sag in the hinges.

The Chevelle starts right up, drives nicely down the road, the engine is quiet, the freshly rebuilt Muncie transmission shifts perfectly, it does not pull to either side while driving or braking, no squeaks, rattles or vibrations, it is an absolute pleasure to own and drive.

65K invested, you will not be disappointed in the looks or performance of this Chevelle.

*The power top operates slow on the way back up and the radio is not connected.

Please check out my excellent feedback.

Best of luck bidding!
