This Truck is a good detailing away from being an Award Winning Show Stopper. Right now its a Restored near Stock Original, totally reliable show and drive. And it does have the gas cap.......
Do a quick search on “1950 Chevrolet Truck”. You will probably find quite a few of them available. But, most all of them have been customized and/or modified into street rods. Find one that is as original and/or quality built as this one, to compare it to.
You are bidding on a Near Stock Original 1950 Chevrolet 3100 Series Deluxe 5 Window 1/2 ton ShortBox Pickup.
This turnkey vehicle has less than 5000 miles on it since restoration. It starts, runs and drives just as it should. The transmission shifts smooth and easy. The brakes are in great working order. It doesn't smoke. The lights and windshield wipers work perfectly. Much of the truck is just like it was from the factory. And everything works as it should, with the noted exceptions. Do keep in mind; it started life 69 years ago as a light duty farm truck. Many things have changed since 1950, and even though it is “restored” to its “the best available” etc. IT DOES NOT START RUN OR DRIVE LIKE YOUR NEW SILVERADO.It's not quite bone Stock, it does have a few upgrades listed in the details below.
1953 Chevy color.
235 ci 6 cylinder motor.
12 volt w/ 6 volt starter, truck fires up instantly even after sitting.
Aluminum Radiator
Safety Belts
RearEnd 3:55 does 70 MPH easily down the freeway.(Speedo not synced to rear).
Gas Gauge (works to half full).
Water Gauge (comes with new sender).
It does show some oil damp underneath, needs some driving to expand those gaskets.
Open the hood and look at an Engine Compartment, detailed and done. The 235 CI Inline 6 Cylinder is an upgrade from the original 216. Matched to a Stock GM 4 Speed Transmission and Floor Shift. Every component on the motor is as clean as it can be. The Rochester 1 BBL Carburetor, Oil Bath Filter, Valve Cover, Alternator, Distributor, Ignition and Generator are all Stock. New Water Pump. The Wiring Harness, Wire Kit, Radiator, and Fuel Pump are all new. The Front Axle is Stock and the Rear has been upgraded to a 3:55 and it will cruise down the highway at 65 easily. The Exhaust System is fairly new as well.
The body is remarkable; almost flawless, with no dents, creases or scratches. Look at the gaps on the doors, the hood, and between the cab and headboard, clean and perfectly spaced. Smooth and glossy paint, an original GM color but from 1953. It does not come out in the rain, the wipers do work tho. The doors and hood open and close easily with a click on solid, no rust hinges. The Grill, Front and Rear Bumper are New as well. The Running Boards are in excellent condition. You can see yourself in the Brightwork on the windows; the badges and emblems are excellent as well. The cowl vent works.
These trucks came from the factory with just one taillight and did not have turn signals, so those are added. The ShortBox Bed has been restored, completely redone. Tie downs have been added on the inside of the bed. On the bed Solid Wood Floors. The tailgate is functional.
The Interior, tried to keep it stock. Almost all of it, the seat, the dash, the instrument panel, restored original stock. The Dash is Complete and Original, right down to the pop out plugs for the optional radio. The Speedo has not been synced to the rear end, but the odometer works. The gas gauge works only to half tank. The original heater, has a new core and works great. The Original Bench Seat has been reupholstered and Seat belts have been added. The Steering Column is Stock Original and steering is tight. The Original Steering Wheel was restored and detailed with Original Color to make it new again. The Door Panels, armrests, handles and locks are all in great condition. Carpet was not an option in 1950, so under the near perfect dash is Correct Factory Floor Covering and the foot operated floor starter, gas and brake pedals. The door jams, the dash, etc, painted with correct color. The headliner is fine but you can see in the pics that maybe a little detailing around the edges. The interior is fantastic as a whole.
All of the Weather-strip/Rubber, as well as the window guides, are excellent front to back. The windshield and door glass is clean and the rear glass and curved corner windows are all correct. IT HAS NEVER BEEN SMOKED IN.
Some things THIS TRUCK DOES NOT HAVE: PS, PB, A/C, V8, Stereo/Radio/CD Player, Rust, Carpet, Cruise Control, Alarm System, Tinted Glass. If there was anything to complain about, it's the Undercarriage. Has not been detailed probably since the resto and needs cosmetic attention more than anything before being show worthy. The floors, under the bed, wheel wells, all totally solid and rust free. Absolutely no paint overspray anywhere. Totally ready for detail.Look at the pics.
Low Mileage P225/75R15 BF Goodrich Tires, w/ NOS Style Chevrolet Hubcaps and Beauty Rings. Spare in the back.
A Garage kept, California clean, Pickup Truck, less than 5000 miles since being restored 10 years or so ago. It has been restored close to Stock Original. It is very close to the same truck purchased originally back in 1950. I do believe after a good bath (just the underside) that it will win shows easily. Already a great show and drive, starts runs and drives excellent. One of the most popular and sought after Classic Truck models of all time.
I really like classic trucks in this condition; you don’t see many that are solid and complete, and haven't had a 350 dropped in them. There are a couple of details needed before perfection, but overall, it's about as good as it gets.
The ADVANCED DESIGN Series of Chevrolet Pickups were NUMBER ONE IN SALES every year from 1947 through 1953. It is no surprise that these trucks are still among the most collectable and sought after classics around. In 1950, Chevy made some very important changes to their trucks. Some of the changes included enlarging the cab, which made seating for three a comfortable reality. Higher and wider cab doors made entry and exit easier. The windshield was split into two pieces and enlarged to improve visibility. And the small curved 'NEW VUE' rear windows (an extra cost option) were added to prevent blind spots. (And they could not be installed on the 3 window versions, so no fakes or kits).
If you are looking for a candidate that can easily be turned into a Show Condition Award Winner, or something to show and drive, this may be your truck.
