1984 Chevrolet C30 Silverado 1-Ton Dually 4 Door Pickup 454 Turbo400 Tan 3+3 2WD
1984 Chevrolet Other Pickups C30 Silverado Four Door Dually 3+3 Description
This listing is for a 1984 Chevrolet C30 1-ton Dual Rear Wheel 4 Door Pickup Truck. It has a 454 four barrel gasoline engine with a Turbo 400 three speed automatic transmission. The rear-end is 4.10 ratio. This truck comes with the 3+3 and Camper Special options. It is a rear drive only dual rear wheel vehicle. It comes with full length aluminum diamond plate running boards. It is setup to tow fifth wheel gooseneck style trailers. It currently has a 2-5/16" ball. Trailer wiring hookup is the older 5 wire type socket. A socket is available in the bed and at the bumper near the license plate. This truck has Air Conditioning, electric windows, electric locks, AM/FM Cassette player, tilt steering wheel, cruise control and delay wipers with new wiper blades. It is basically fully loaded given the options available from Chevrolet at the time it was built. The "chrome" wheels are aftermarket wheel cover kits. These are steel wheels, not aluminum, and are not chrome plated. Overall the truck is in fair condition. The original clock works very well and keeps accurate time. The original temp gauge works but is not very accurate. AutoMeter mechanical temperature and oil pressure gauges have been added, as seen in one of the photos, due to problems with the oil pressure gauge and temp gauge accuracy. They are located just above the transmission "hump" (See photo). The odometer is a five digit unit which is factory original for this truck. The truck was purchased with 87,943 miles before the odometer rolled over. It currently shows 30,761 miles. I must assume the actual mileage is 130,761. I have no way to verify mileage otherwise. This vehicle comes with a clear Oklahoma title. This truck includes dual fuel tanks of approximately 20-22 gallons each. The bed includes a heavy-duty protective rubber mat with a cutout for the fifth wheel ball. Also included is a chrome front bumper guard and old-school bug deflector shield which bolts to the hood.
Their are several issues that need repaired, but that should be expected given its age of 35 years. They are listed as follows. The engine is a 454 four barrel. It runs and drives, but the motor needs to be rebuilt. Currently the engine produces 50-55 lbs. of oil pressure at a highway cruising speed of 60-65 mph. The A/C does not work. There is a freon leak somewhere in the system. It is an R12 refrigerant A/C system and will need to be upgraded to a more current freon spec in order to be repaired. Paint is in fair shape with some fading and scratches. Some areas of the clear coat have started to peal. The original glued on side molding has been removed and some of the glue residue still remains. The original voltage gauge does not work, however the alternator does charge and maintain the battery. The original oil pressure gauge is intermittent. The sending unit has been replaced, so the problem is most likely the gauge. The drivers seat needs recovered (See photo). The drivers door window will not roll down. The motor/regulator needs to be replaced. The passenger door electric lock switch needs replaced. Their is some old window tinting applied to all 4 door windows plus the rear window. This needs to be removed and replaced or left clear. There is a small dent in the driver side door (See photo). The right rear fiberglass dual wheel fender needs replaced (See photo). It is a bolt-on fix. The steel inner fender area under the fiberglass "bubble" is not damaged. The dual exhaust system has been "patched" but is in need of replacement. The fuel tank switch needs repaired. It was recently replaced but no longer works. I was told it may just be a grounding issue. The top of the dash cover is sun cracked which is common for this age of vehicle. The radio works intermittently. I believe this to be a grounding problem. The bracket for the upper passenger side headlight is broken. The headlight bulb works, but shines downward because of the broken bracket. The windshield is cracked on the lower area of the drivers side, but does not interfere with the drivers vision.
Admittedly, there are several issues to resolve with this truck, but it does not have a $70-80,000 price tag like the new ones. I believe it would be a good candidate vehicle for restoration. I no longer need this vehicle or I would do a resto myself. I have tried to describe the condition of the vehicle as best as possible, including all of its flaws. If needed, I can provide additional photos to answer any questions you may have. Please review the provided photos and feel free to email with questions about this truck.
