Up for auction is my old truck.I didn’t even wash it.It’s been sitting under some trees for a bit next my house. It, of course hasn't spent all it's life outside, or it would be way worse shape.There is dirt and pollen all over it, as you can see. Now onto what matters! .....
These trucks are quite hard to find, and won’t be going down in value. I’ve hung onto it a long time because of how hard they are to get. It was hard to find 20 years ago, and even with all the internet, still very hard. VERY FEW AND FAR BETWEEN! They just didn’t sell many loaded up like this one.

Let’s go over the condition.The frame, while not perfect, I’ve seen way worse! It’s actually nothing to complain about at all!!Pretty Good shape. My dad was always strict about washing salt off in winter. Still, truck has rotted places on the body. Fuel door,b ed corner, rocker panels, fender wells.It, as any older truck, needs body work. It’s not really that bad, actually. Many comment on how good it is for its age. Bed floor is great. Replaced the supports under it. That’s why the weld/burn marks in the paint around the goose-neck hitch.To look great, it will need totally re-painted, obviously. “31 years old”
Needs an axle seal, or the seal under floating axle end... I did the seal, and maybe during inspection it got messed up, as axle has to be pulled to remove drum and inspect rear brake shoes. Has play in the rear, orT-case or both, as to be expected with high miles. Has like280,000. BUT, it starts like brand new; it’s so awesome. Unbelievably...it doesn't burn oil! It's like the odometer is lying!the great running can be attributed to cleaning the egr port through the intake manifold.. was “totally choked.” Replaced cable to starter, and replaced one of the fuel pumps like a month ago. The egr and battery cable made starting and running so much better.It whips over! And it's responsive.Timing chain was done. Bunch of normal stuff like water pump. Exhaust manifolds were replaced..Rest of exhaust.. Rear leafs springs were replaced. Has 6 NEW FIRESTONE TIRES! 235/85/16’s. I’ve put about 600 miles on them.
It has a fold down gooseneck hitch in the bed, heavier than anything you can buy! I know this because my dad and I made it from an old bridge I-beam... We always, always overbuild! We joke that it’s GVWR rating is 50k and will rip the frame off the truck before breaking.... the bumper hitch again, made from 3/8” wall angle iron... has towed ridiculous things!
Aside from the axle seal, it should pass inspection.So, this truck is usable, but it’s also a great basis for the guy who wants to build a nice truck. It’s got good bones.
The roof has some dents in it on the driver's side edge, because of a small treebranch falling on it. Made me so mad! Could have been way worse though... not hard to fix.
Anyway, the thing to do would be get one of those glue on ding-puller kits off eBay for $35.I just didn’t get around to it. This is a spur of the moment listing. “Otherwise I would have probably washed it”.... Haha!But I know that anyone who knows what this truck is, won’t be so concerned about the pollen,Or the normal rust in some spots.
It has cruise but it doesn’t stay on, and it has a/c, but needs a compressor. I was going to convert it to the newer serpentine drive, or I would’ve replaced compressoralready.
Power windows are slow. Probably need new rollers on the regulators.Remember how old this thing is!But!! It has power windows, Man... And power door locks, ..which I don’t use.The bones are there!
I can’t think of everything,Message me with specific questions.The front seat is actually a back seat, or a seat from a regular cab, so it folds forward like the back one! I have a box of odds and ends like the plastic covers for the seat belts etc.will need a new headliner, dash pad and parts of the door panels etc. Was originally a centurion “fancy camping deal.” Had a tv in it and a bunch of junk... Actual wood on the door panels.. all really old stuff of course.
One last thing because I’m totally honest and I’d rather pay more and not be surprised than hope other stuff isn’t wrong. Many folks wouldn’t pick this up if I didn’t tell them. 2nd gear doesn’t hold back in the trans. The band around the drum could have broken at spot welds. Could be something even more simple. Happened very soon after trans was redone which is only a few thousand miles ago. Truck rarely was used.
Can we agree there’s value to trust!Normal driving, you never think about. Towing down a mountain with a camper if that’s your plan, 2nd gear won’t assist with braking. It’s annoying cuz the trans has a lotof life left in it otherwise. Only an issue in long distance downhill situations when you wish it could hold back a little. Biggest thing to do is simply go slow!!
Lucky you came across a not-too-shabby “3+3 Dually, With a Big Block, With an Auto, With 4WD”.... factory cruise, a/c, power windows, and door locks! How often does that happen!?It took FOREVER to find this truck many years ago.Had a chance at a nicer looking one, but the frame was absolutely terrible! I’ll say it again, this one has good bones to work with! It’s easier to do some body work than find and replace a frame..And the body work isn’t even that bad!!!
