1927 Chevrolet Other Series AA Capitol Coupe Description

For sale is a very special 1927 Chevrolet Series AA Capital Coupe with fewer than 17,000 miles on the odometer.
In the late 20’s, my grandfather was a Chevrolet mechanic in Cleveland, OH (photo attached). I suppose that was his motivation when my father purchased this car when I was a very young child. He drove it occasionally, and carefully maintained it, but mainly kept it covered in storage for decades until 1990 when the launch of a new family business resulted in the sale of this beautiful car. After years of hearing my father say “Oh, I wish I’d never sold that ’27 Chevy”, I began searching for it’s current owner in an attempt to bring the car back home to our family. As it turned out, the car was still in Ohio, and had been carefully preserved. After some negotiations (and lots of begging), I purchased the beloved ’27 Chevy back and it rejoined our family. I spent the next several years working on the car. It has beenmeticulously maintained, and has benefited from new brake linings, complete wiring harness, full exhaust system, hardened valve seats, new Interstate 6V battery, rebuilt vacuum fuel pump, rebuiltcarburetor, and complete tune-up includingignition parts and all fluids. I restored the front windshield crank-up mechanism (early A/C), replaced the weatherstripping, and rebuilt the vacuum wiper motor to working order. I also replaced the weather-cracked tires with five new correct‘Silvertown’ white wall tires and tubes from Coker. In every case I used NOS parts or high quality restored original parts as available. It now starts and drives as new, and needs nothing to be driven and enjoyed regularly. Aside from the marginal comfort associated with driving a 1927 automobile a long distance, I would not hesitate for a moment to drive this car anywhere without fear of mechanical challenges.
Sadly, the car has once again found a home beneath a cover in my heated shop and rarely gets driven. It’s time for it’s next steward to take her home to enjoy.
To me, this car is simply stunning, but this is not a 100 point show car. It is a rust-free car with a healthy wood frame and has never been in an accident, however it does have a few chips and dings here and there…all small signs of nearly 90 years of life. It still wears its original (or very early restored) black and beige paint which shines, yet shows age. It also has its original mohair interior and bowtie rubber floor mat which is not perfect, but is original and far too nice to replace.
I’ll be hoping that the right person comes along who will care for this spectacular car as my family and I have.
Sale of the car will include a big box of pieces and parts which I’ve collected over the years, as well as a file of receipts, manuals and notes dating back to the early 1970's when my father first purchased the car. I also own two very sought after treasures: I have an original 1927 Chevrolet sales quota trophy which threads onto the radiator and replicates the ’Spirit of St. Louis’. I also own the rare 1927 Chevrolet ‘Radiator Watch’ sales award. Neither are included with the sale of the car, but I’ll sell them reasonably if you’re interested. Heck, I'll include them both if purchased at 'buy-it-now' price.
You can find a few more photos of the car, and a video of the fascinating external lifters on the engine hard at work at my smugmug page by navigating to the smugmug website and searching for a gallery named'27 Chevy Capital Coupe'.
Questions, just send me an email and I’ll reply promptly. Thank you for watching, and happy bidding!
Note - I will be traveling and away from home until Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th. Willing bidder will have to be a bit patient and await my return to pick the car up. Sorry.
