Take this gorgeous 1989 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 pickup home and you'll be faced with a dilemma: show it or have a party with it off road? Nicely preserved, beautifully refinished, and totally capable, this big 4x4 will take you anywhere, including the winner's podium. A $12k paint job isn't the first thing that springs to mind when you think about a serious off-road machine, but that's exactly what this red beauty was treated to and after seeing... this pickup in person, you'll agree that it looks simply amazing. A team of experts went to work on the shortbed 4x4 truck, ensuring the panels were straight and that the gaps neatly lined up, then smoothing the rest until it was ready for several coats of that deep red paint. A few layers of clear, some buffing and rubbing, and voila! It's ready for primetime. Along the way, the former owners of this Chevy resisted the temptation for any modifications, and one can't argue that the simple GM design is the best look you got for this era truck. In contrast to the monochromatic red, the grille is brightly chromed to match the OEM bumpers fore and aft, as are the shiny wheel arch moldings, while the black trim and rubber molding throughout the truck is in great shape and matches the taut vinyl bed cover. A peek inside that bed shows a durable GM Duraliner bed liner, so even though this truck can easily strut its stuff under the bright lights of a cruise-in, it's ready to work too. The interior is all-stock, but it's also very nicely preserved and in excellent condition. The 60-40 split-bench with high-backs and head rests is correct for a Silverado and we just love seeing that familiar cloth-patterned seat in such great condition. The door panels are just as clean, as is the carpet and headliner, and the fact that it's all devoid of any rips or fading proves that this truck was always babied and stored in a garage away from the ravages of the sun. Same goes for the crack-free dash and big, comfortable four-spoke steering wheel. The gauges and controls are crisp and bright, and remarkably enough the original AM/FM/Cassette player is still in its factory location and works great! Options are plentiful, highlighted with power windows, cruise control, and most importantly on those hot summer days: cold R134a A/C. All-in-all, a very comfortable cabin to be seated in, both off-road and on. Open the hood and inspect the nicely detailed engine bay. This Silverado is equipped with the 350 cubic inch V8 that has been fitted to everything from Camaros to, well, pickup trucks. There are plenty of aftermarket performance enhancements for those of you that like to modify your ride, thanks to the longevity and the multi-model placement of this motor. Still, more than enough power available if you choose to leave the motor bone stock and beautiful like this original, numbers matching one, which looks like it just rolled out of the showroom. The 4-speed automatic transmission is also performing without complaint and there isn't a better transmission available to mate to the 350; after all, nobody really wants a manual transmission in their truck, do they? Have a look at the super clean undercarriage, where you'll find no secrets, thanks to a lifetime of easy-living, and again, it offers more proof of this truck's remarkably careful ownership throughout the years. Stock rallye wheels add some flash to the red 4x4, endowing it with a sporty demeanor, and it carries 255/75/15 Firestone radials all around, with plenty of tread left to go on each one. Civilized yet capable, this 1989 Silverado 4x4 is an impressive machine that does it all. It's not often that we see such wonderful preservation on this generation of pickups, let alone such a higher-end respray. These trucks are really starting to catch the eyes of collectors and a clean example like this won't last long. Call today!
