1978 Chevy El Camino Super Sport
350cu.in. V8 - Automatic

You are viewing a privately owned 1978 Chevrolet El Camino Super Sport!
Classic Cars Online is helping the owner with the presentation and listing of this vehicle.
You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from the private owner.
Please read and view all of the 78 pictures listed in the photo gallery which is below the detailed description area.
Would you buy a car on eBay with four pictures and one paragraph of description? NO.
That is why at Classic Cars Online, our listings will go over and show every area of the vehicle that is up for auction. Description: Written by the Owner.
Body & Paint: The vehicle was repainted about a year ago in its original Black (Code 19) color. The lower "Super Sport" silver accent color wasn't put back on at that time. (Code 15M) The body is very solid and straight, free of any dents, scratches or door dings. The front lower Super Sport spoiler is in nice condition. The car also has the dual sport mirrors which also came with the Super Sport package. Looking at the photo of the trim tag, you will see that this vehicle came with the SS package. (15M code: SS Lower paint accent color Silver with Red/Black stripes and letters.) These items were not re-installed after the vehicle was painted. The vehicle will come with a new set of door weatherstripping ready to be installed.
Chrome and Trim: The front and rear bumpers have both been rechromed and are straight and true. They look great with a nice shine. The front grill and headlight bezels are also in nice shape. The stainless steel wheel openings moldings are nice but they do have a few dings in them.
Interior: From what I can tell, this is still all the original interior. This black cloth is holding up very well. The seats are in great shape without any rips, holes or marks. It's real not even faded or show much wear. The door panels are nice along with the carpet and headliner. The instrument panel and dash are very clean with only one small crack in the dash over the grove box area. The dash has the "El Camino SS" emblem still attached. The vehicle has the optional U14 Gage Package with tachometer. The factory Air Conditioning is in working order along with the rest of the electrical items. (Lights, radio, horn, heater fan, cruise, delayed wipers, etc...) The steering wheel has the optional Comfortilt column.
Engine Compartment: Under the hood is the optional 350 cu. in. 4 barrel carburetor V8 engine. (The "L" as the fifth digit in the VIN confirms this fact.) It runs great with no problems. It was recently gone over and received new spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel pump, the carburetor was rebuilt, hoses, belts and a new battery. The engine compartment is very clean and detailed to factory appearance. You can even still see some on the original hand written marks (codes) on the fire wall. Along with this optional 350 engine, the car has power brakes, power steering and air conditioning. Bolted to this power plant is an automatic transmission that shifts out nice with no issues or problems. The vehicle comes along a new chrome dress up kit for the engine if the new owner wants to install it. (Chrome valve covers, oil breather cap, timing cover, and oil dipstick tube.)
Truck Bed Compartment: The bed compartment is in excellent condition. A new fiberglass cover that locks was painted black to match the body color. The underside of the cover has a nice gray carpet material. The floor of the bed is solid and rust free. A new rubber bed mat is installed.
Glass: All of the glass pieces still look to be original with the correct "LOF" logos on them including the windshield. They are all in very nice shape without any cracks, chips, or scratches. The side windows roll up/down without any problems.
Wheels & Tires: The vehicle has four new 15 inch Cragar SS chrome wheels which are in excellent condition. Mounted on these wheels are new Michelin Defender 215/70R15 tires which are also in great condition.
Frame & Undercarriage: Looking at bottom, you can see that the vehicle is very solid. Yes it has the typical surface rust on the parts, but the frame and floor pans are very solid. With a little cleaning and detailing, this undercarriage would look great. A new dual exhaust system was installed with chrome tip exiting under the rear bumper. The Vehicle has a great rumble sound to it. (Just right.)
Nine times out of ten, people selling a car would not talk about or take any photos of the underside. The undercarriage tells you a lot about the car, that is why there are a few pictures of the bottom in the photo gallery. Please view them all and see why this vehicle is better then most.

Please read all of the terms before bidding. Our goal at Classic Cars Online, LLC. is to broker positive transactions between buyers and owners. We help with listing and presenting vehicles on eBay for the owners. We are not in possession and we have not inspected this vehicle. The owner provides us the information and photos for the eBay auction and has stated the representations are true to the best of his/her knowledge.
We also have a "Risk Free" 7 day inspection period AFTER the auction for the winner bidder.
(See below for details.) 1) The owner provides and is responsible for any and all representations within this auction and not Classic Cars Online, LLC. The owner states that the presentations are honest and accurate to the best of his/her knowledge and assumes all legal responsibilities for the vehicle and representations. 2) At the conclusion of the auction and upon reception of a Five percent (5%) deposit, Classic Cars Online, LLC. will place the winning bidder in touch with the owner to arrange for inspection or transportation. Classic Cars Online will accept the deposit on behalf of the owner. This deposit is due within 3 days of auction closing. The deposit can be paid with a Certified Bank Check. 3) An Inspection of the vehicle is Highly Recommended and must be done within 7 days of auction closing. The remaining balance, is due to the owner at inspection/acceptance. *If inspection is not completed within 7 days, or buyer waves his choice to inspect the vehicle, the deposit is nonrefundable and the deal is finalized. The inspection can be done by the buyer personally or a third party inspector that the buyer hires. 4) Full payment is due within 7 days of auction closing. You are not purchasing a new car that is claimed to be flawless. Instead, you are purchasing a vehicle that is old and expected to have normal wear and tear from age. The vehicle is sold "as is" where is without any warranty implied or expressed. All sales are final once inspected or paid in full. 5) If the vehicle was found to be materially misrepresented at the inspection, your deposit is refundable and you are not liable for the purchase but this must be determined within the allotted seven (7) day inspection period. Regardless of our commitment to describe vehicles in as much detail as possible there will be imperfections. Failing to mention for example an item such as a small paint imperfection, a minor non-safety related item such as a switch etc, does not constitute refusal of the vehicle by the buyer. We require you to put in writing via email or fax the material misrepresentations in order to receive a refund of your deposit. Taking a few photos of the misrepresented area for us to see, will help point out and confirm your concerns. "Changed my Mind" is not a valid excuse for your deposit to be refunded. 6) Bidding on this auction demonstrates your acceptance to indemnify and hold harmless Classic Cars Online, LLC. from any liability resulting from this transaction, including any reasonable attorney fees. 7) PLEASE DO NOT bid unless you have full intentions of purchasing at your bid price. Your bid is a legally binding contract as eBay clearly states. We reserve the right to end the auction early. We also reserve the right to verify any or all bids to ensure excellent auction integrity. Please do not ask the sellers reserve price as we will not disclose this information. 8) WE DO NOT accept bid retractions. If you bid and retract you will be added to our blocked bidder list and future bids will NOT be accepted. eBay allows for you to triple check your bid before finally entering the bid. Our integrity is impeccable as our feedback shows and we demand the same from our bidders. 9) Bidder/Buyer is responsible for all the shipping costs, insurance, title work, and must be 18 years of age or older. Remember, whether you are buying a car/truck from eBay, Hemmings or Collector Car Trader, you will inevitably want to go and inspect the vehicle. Our system is better than most as you can actually see several photos of the vehicle and enjoy a much more lengthy description, and then have a chance to inspect the vehicle after the auction. ss
