This 1968 Corvette has had a full restoration performed. First, the engine was replaced with a new 327ci Small block engine (code 3, 327ci, 300hp OE replacement), which was an exact fit to this car's original 3-speed automatic transmission (code k- GM Turbo Hydra-matic). This Corvette has been freshly repainted Rally Red, rather than its original color of British Green (color code 983). The Interior was professionally re-upholstered in combination of vinyl and leather, which was the original standard equipment on this Vehicle (code STD). Also, the convertible top was replaced with a black OE style top. The entire suspension system has been replaced, again with OE suspension. 1968 is the first year of the C3 Corvette, and subtelty is not a characteristic used to describe it. It is a brutal, masculine machine, borrowing from no one as a mechanical achievement on America's list of auto-endeavors. Very few changes were made in the drivetrain and chassis from previous years, but that is only a fault if they're inadequate- They're not. With transmissions that shift effortlessly, powered by an absolute behemoth of an engine, one would find themselves hitting the gas on any slight opportunity, just because they couldn't keep their hands off the shifter. A lower center of gravity, 1-inch wider wheels, and a 0.7 inch wider track created a safety precaution in the C3 to significantly reduce understeer. While Chevrolet re-fashioned the outside of the 1968 Corvette, they rearranged the inside too. The instrument panel was modified in an aircraft tradition, giving the driver the impression that they are sitting in a cockpit of their very own rocket-sled. The stunning guages on a flat-black background and subtle bright trim create an intimate interior. The parking brake was moved from a knee-knocking position under the dash to the center console between the seats, and the convertible top opens and closes more securely than ever before. Viva Las Vegas Autos Preparations... Whenever we buy a classic car like this, our first steps of getting it ready for market are through a thorough visual, mechanical and functional inspection. We get in every car, turn every knob, and push every button to ensure that it works. The convertible soft-top easily maneuvers up and down, locking in to place securely. The interior is in excellent condition. No rips or tears in the seats, as they were re-upholstered. The flooring is new. All of the gauges are original and in near perfect condition with minor signs of wear. The dash has no cracks or discoloration from the sun. the windows roll up and down efforlessly, and the rubber guides that normally crack and dry up are supple. The windshield wiper blades were not working- We fixed that. The windshield wiper door was not setting in properly- We fixed that too. We upgraded the wheels to OEM Rally Wheels to add to its already praised curb appeal. The previous owner did a terrific job on his restoration, as these were some of the only things that actually needed to be done to the car. When any vehicle arrives at our shop, the first thing we do is put in on a lift and do a quick power-wash of the undercarriage. This frees the car of any dirt and grime undereath, as well as revealing any mechanical issues that need to be attended to. We could tell that this car had been restored very recently, as every bolt under the engine and transmission were freshly tightened, and the car shows virtually no signs of leaks.
