HISTORY OF 1964 RED CORVETTE #40867S109722

Prior to purchasing the above vehicle, I (Earl H. Gunnerson) was able to talk to the first two owners in April of 2007. Both prior owners and David Bramuchi remembered the Vette and were very helpful in providing information.

1. Original owner was: Alan

8255 28th Street SE (Home & Business address)

Ada, MI 49301

Telephone:

Alan purchased the Vette from the local Chevrolet dealer (Azzarello Chevrolet & Buick). The Vette was not special ordered, but was one received by the dealer. The options included, radio, posi-traction, 308 rear end gear ratio, white walled tires, 4 spd transmission, and 300hp motor. It only had a black soft top. Alan added or had the dealer add the right outside rearview mirror and a bumper trailer hitch, as he pulled a 12 foot boat and trailer (approximately 6 miles round trip when he would take the boat to fish). The Vette was NEVER driven in the rain or during the winter. Additionally, people who rode in the Vette had to remove their shoes before getting into it. He stated that he kept the Vette between 6 to 10 years (1964 to possibly to 1974) and he is not sure how long, but the Vette only had 6K to 10K on speedometer it when he sold it to Francis. He thinks Francis kept the Vette approximately 7 or 8 years. He stated that the motor had NEVER been removed from the vehicle and that only minor tune-ups were done to the Vette. Additionally, Alan stated the Vette came with the standard steel wheels and hubcaps. The following December (from original purchase date) he purchased the knockoff wheels for the Vette for a $100.00 (plus his original wheels and tires) from a car dealer (not the original Chevrolet dealer) in his town.

2. Second owner was: Francis

7125 Glen Creek Drive SE

Caledonia, MI

Telephone:

Francis bought the Vette from Alan, as Alan and Francis’ brother were friends. Francis had the Vette from approximately 1971 (possibly longer) through the early part of 1978. The Vette was NEVER driven in the rain or during the winter. Francis could not remember the mileage on the vehicle when he sold it, but stated the Vette was in excellent condition. He stated that the motor had NEVER been removed from the vehicle and that only minor tune-ups were done to the Vette. He does not remember the individual’s name who bought the Vette, but that he lived in Memphis and was DJ. (He sold the Vette to a George who was a disk jockey in Memphis, TN). Apparently, George had been a DJ in the Grand Rapids area and was aware of the Vette being for sale.

3. Third owner was: George (Deceased)

17027 Turkey Point Drive

San Antonio, TX 78232

Telephone:

Apparently George had a 1976 Vette and decided he would like a mid-year model. It is not clear how George found the Vette in Michigan. He and an individual named David who flew to Grand Rapids, MI and inspected the Vette, at which time George purchased it from the second owner. The Vette was transported to Memphis in April of 1978 and George remained the owner until his death sometime in 2003 and then his heirs decided to sell the Vette. According to family members, George only drove Vette as a “toy” and all five children stated that the motor had NEVER been removed from the vehicle and that only minor tune-ups were done to the Vette and that George did those. Additional on David, he was the Memphis Corvette Club president and currently resides in FL.

The family were apparently not “car people” and did not list the vehicle correctly for a selling listing. Carl (my friend in Houston) found out about the Vette. He and a friend named Ken examined the Vette in April of 2007, in San Antonio, TX and determined the Vette to be a VERY original vehicle with less than 38,000 reading on the odometer. Neither Carl nor Ken desired to purchase the vehicle and Carl called me to see if I would be interested in purchasing the Vette. I purchased the Vette on April 26, 2007 and became the fourth owner. The Vette was delivered on May 11, 2007 to our Huntington Beach address by Intercity Lines.

4. Fourth owner was: Earl H. Gunnerson

I purchased the above described Corvette from the wife and family of the late George on April, 26, 2007. The vehicle was inspected by Carl (again) and me on that day. A deposit was given to Kathleen and the rest of the money was wired transferred a few days later. Intercity Lines picked up the car in San Antonio, TX on May 4, 2007 and delivered to me on May 11, 2007. At that time I had the hoses and fluids changed in May of 2007, the original fourth quarter 1963 spark plug wires were also changed. I have the original spark plug wires.
