1969 Chevrolet Corvette Yard find Custom Description

Here is what might be the cheapest matching numbers, clear title, one owner, 350 hp 4 speed, factory air conditioned 1969 Corvette available on Ebay. As you can see it has been the subject of some creative customizing by the original owner. It is not currently running but was running 6 years ago. When it landed here the battery was dated from 2000. Mileage believed to be 38370. See pictures of pedal pads (dirty but no wear). Title reads actual mileage as 3837. Truthfully, it doesn't even matter what the mileage is as it all needs to be taken apart anyway.

So before you start with the comments I want everyone to know I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS CREATION!
The story that I heard is that the original owner purchased this car brand new along with another one for his wife. The title picture bears this out with an original purchase date of Dec. 1969. Sometime in the late 70's and maybe as a result of the Corvette Summer movie or a combination of midlife crisis, too much spare time, prescription drugs and an active imagination he started on this masterpiece. I do believe at some point it was finished because I found an old newspaper classified ad where he had it listed for sale in 1980 for $10,000. I will include it with the sale documents.

After the car failed to sell it was entombed in his house for a while as a display. I'm heard that they had to take a wall down to get it out. After being extracted it was left in the yard to rot away. My friend lived nearby and rescued it. It sat in his garage for a couple years until he sold his house and had to find another home for it. That's how I got involved. Now it is clogging up my garage and needs to go.

When I went to pick it up it would not roll at all. It took four hours to winch it up on the trailer. After a day of work I was able figure out the problem. The parking brake shoes had fused to the inside of the rotors. I had to drill out the original rivets on the rotors and pry them off to access the shoes and remove them. The car rolls nicely now. It has new front tires and tubes in the original (new) rear tires as they are dry and wouldn't stay aired up for more than a few days. Now you are all good!

I am starting the bidding at $795. Why $795? because that is what an original, working tilt and telescopic steering column is going for. If I can't get at least $795 for the whole car with the column in it, I will start parting it out. There is no reserve.

Next Monday, July 22nd at 9:30 AM someone is going to be the proud new owner of what could be the ugliest Corvette on the planet and for less than the cost of a used Kia.

Imagine the crowds that you could impress at the next big car show! People might even pay money to get their picture with it. I thought it might be a good start on an inexpensive Autocrosser as one piece front and rear clips are available here on Ebay with the cool L88 flares already built in.

Maybe it could be featured in a book on what not to do when customizing. How about making it the subject of one of those cable TV car rescue shows? Calling Fast n' Loud, Graveyard Carz, Chip Foose, Fantom Works, Counts Kustoms, Garage Squad, Bitchin' Rides, American Pickers? Who knows? the opportunities are endless!

Here is my summary of the car as it sits. It now rolls and steers easily. It is not currently running. It has no working brakes.

The good:
  • "Unique" styling - sure to draw a crowd at any show!
  • It has matching numbers - see VIN stamp on engine picture and VIN on title.
  • Engine has not been taken apart and everything factory is still in place including carb and valve covers.
  • Seats are dry and dusty but no burn holes or rips in fabric
  • Dash is free of cracks
  • Cluster and am/fm radio are in surprisingly good shape
  • Windshield and removable back glass are free of scratches and wiper marks
  • Frame has surface rust but is solid with no rot other than drivers side rear rail cap has small hole at the bottom (see pics)
  • Factory four speed and shifter still in the car
  • Clear, non salvage title
  • Factory air is intact and still sealed
  • Many good usable parts if you want to cut it up
  • One piece front and rear clips are available for a reasonable amount
  • Never wrecked
  • NO RESERVE
