1985 Chevrolet Blazer M1009 CUCV Description

For your consideration is a 1985 K5 Blazer / M1009 CUCV. Please review the listing carefully as this is not an operating vehicle. Some important items:
It will need to be towed!Roughly two months ago, the rear differential (the stock Eaton G80 unit) "grenaded." In order to drive, the Blazer needs either a rebuilt differential, a new differential, or a new axle with a functioning differential. This was the only thing keeping this Blazer off the road.
Also, the vehicle does NOT have a functional odometer! The odometer indicates somewhere around 52,000 miles. However, it has not functioned since the vehicle was purchased. Therefore, I cannot estimate how many miles are on the car. That said, it does have many new components.
Further, the car is concurrently listed, locally. If it sells locally, this auction will be withdrawn. No remaining interest for any bidder who is not the final bidder and winner of this auction.
The M1009 is the military version of the K5 Blazer. It comes standard with automatic transmission and a 6.2 liter "J Code" diesel V8. It has been converted by a previous owner to the 12 volt electrical system, as opposed to the 24 volt electrical system that was standard military issue. As a military model, it does not come with many of the comforts from the civilian model. For example, there is no air conditioning, very little interior upholstery (other than seats and bench), and more. If you do not know the details of the M1009, better to do some research now.
Since I purchased the vehicle, I have invested large amounts of money into it. Recent repairs and replacements include, but are not limited to:
- 4" suspension lift from Off-Road Designs (ORD) in Carbondale, Colorado, one of the most respected modifiers of K5 Blazers. The suspension lift includes all of the components listed in the ORD 4" catalog here:http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/4inchliftsystem.htm. No expense was spared and the installation was done professionally at a reputable local shop. All records in hand. As the lift kit was installed, the shop replaced any components that showed wear along the way. The total installation cost nearly $5,000 as a result!
- Rebuilt WARN hubs;
- Softopper soft top. The hard top also comes with the car.
- New heater core.
- New 35" (35x10.5x15) Cooper Discoverer STT Pro M/T tires, plus full-size spare. These tires have lots of life left on them.
- New fuel filter, fuel lines, and more.
The engine and transmission purr and are in excellent shape. The car passed diesel emissions in early 2019.
There are some minor issues. Most of them are cosmetic.
-The interior is rough. The seats are functional but the driver's side seat is broken and must be replaced, fixed, or braced. It is currently braced from behind.
- The previous owner repainted the car (badly) with some sort of bed liner or chip guard, inside and out. Note that if you wish to repaint the car, you'll likely pay top dollar to do so or plan to spend some time removing it yourself. This was in the plans for me, but I've moved on to other projects.
- There is minimal rust, mostly in the rear along the fenders, but also in places on the interior where the (bad) paint job has started to chip.
Again, the car will need to be towed. It is currently garaged. This is because it will not drive without a functional rear differential.
As far as CUCV / M1009 vehicles are concerned, this one needs some love but if you replace the differential, it is ready to roll. It is a 35 year old car with little care taken of it until my investment. It is sold "as-is" and no promises made as to what might come next.
