1979 Chevrolet Malibu Description

For Sale, 1979 Chevy Malibu Race Car!! This car was being built into a race car by a close friend when his health began to decline. He was unable to finish it but did get the drivetrain and suspension completed. This car has a mid 60's 327 engine bored .060 with Chevy 202 heads that were ported and polished. It has a single plane Edelbrock intake that is port matched. It has 13:1 pop-up pistons and a very radical cam. It has a set of competition long tube headers with 3 1/2 inch pipes going into 3 1/2 inch flowmaster mufflers with 3 1/2 inch outlets. As you can see in the pics it also has 3 1/2 inch cutouts on the headpipes for full open header racing. He installed a 3000 stall torque converter and had the transmission freshly built with all upgraded internal components. He also upgraded the rear axle ratio but I don't know what that ratio is. It runs at over 3000rpm at 60mph. All of this was done about 10 years ago and has only been through the break-in process. There are no miles or track time on this car at all. He had begun to upgrade the interior when he got sick and never finished the job. Since his passing I have gone through the car to make sure that all of the necessary systems are functioning as they should. I also installed the racing bucket seats that he had purchased because he had thrown away the original bench seat years ago. I have just replaced the front brake calipers and master cylinder and finished installing the remaining new front suspension components that he had purchase for the car. All of the lights and electrical's work in the car so it could be put back on the street if desired. The body is quite solid with only a couple of surface rust spots where at the back corners of the rear side windows. The floors and trunk are solid. There is some through rust in the pan under the back seat that will need to be repaired. This is due to the rear glass losing it's seal and allowing water to run into the car. The rear glass is still currently loose and just laying in the window track so it will need to be re-sealed and glued back in. This car RUNS and DRIVES GREAT!!! I replaced one front tire and the other 3 drive smooth. This car requires CAM2 fuel to run and has about 1/3 of a tank in it now. It comes with a 5 gallon fuel cell and brackets as well as a battery cut off switch. The battery has been moved to the trunk and is located in the spare tire well. This car is quite LOUD and FAST!!! The engine's powerband is from about 3500rpm up. It still pulls very hard at 6000rpm.There has been close to $10k invested in just the drivetrain. This G-Body is ready for the track or would make a Great STREET BRAWLER!!! Don't miss out on this opportunity to pickup one of the most sought after cars for drag racing with all of the drivetrain finished.
