1989 Chevy Suburban 4x4
1989 Chevrolet Other Pickups Silverado Description
This is my daily driver Suburban, Classic square body in excellent condition. Interior and exterior have been maintained in original condition. No major body work and no rust. There is one small dent by rear bumper, see picture. Paint is very good condition with a few chips here and there from daily use.
Interior is in excellent condition, no tears, no worn through places on seats. Carpet was replaced 2 years ago. Dash is original and still looks very good. All gauges work. Radio/cassette and all four speaker work good. Front and rear A/C blow cold.
Engine is a 572 cubic inch built by Skip White. Engine was built for massive low end torque. Engine compression is a mild 9.48:1, runs great on 89 octane gas. Dyno results: 627HP and 690 Ft/lbs of torque. Instant off idle torque. Link to actual engine run:https://youtu.be/_AV0Sa4dT98Fuel delivery is Holley Sniper EFI, very smooth idle and cruise characteristics. This engine drives like a kitten until you stomp the gas and then hang on! It still has the stock air cleaning for the “sleeper” look.
Transmission: 700R4 built with all heavy duty parts to handle the 572 engine. Full lockup in 3rd gear and overdrive. With a low 1650 stall the vehicle drives around town like a stock transmission. This engine pulls hills locked in overdrive with a boat in tow no problem.Hubs are manual locking, 4x4 works perfect.
Cooling system: A 572 requires an equally massive cooling system. It’s a 4 row aluminum radiator with a Derale dual 13” shrouded fans pulling 4000cfm. Each fan is control individually by the Holley Sniper EFI. Fans are easily programmed from touch screen to turn on and off at any temp you choose. Fans must be programmed to turn ON at different temperatures so they do not both turn on at the same time, draws too many start up amps for the stock 80 amp rated alternator
Rear differential has been rebuilt with 3.73 gears and an Eaton TrueTrac. Smooth and quite. New heavy duty U-joints.
Exhaust: Short style ceramic coated headers with 3” primaries into dual Cats, dual resonators into a single Flow-master Big Block 50 series muffler and a single 3.5” single tail pipe. Slightly restrictive for a 572 engine but I wanted the Suburban to look stock. Mild rumble exhaust note.
Suspension: Front springs are new stock snow plow option 3 leaf spring for approx 1.5” of lift. Rear springs are original with a 1” block lift. After market rear anti sway bar to control highway roll. New steering box, ball joints, bushings and steering stabilizer. Truck drives straight down the road with only one finger in the wheel.
Tires and Wheels: Stock 15” wheels and 33x10.5 Dick Cepek mud terrain tires with 80% tread remaining.
Recent life changes don’t have room for this awesome Suburban I built. Good luck bidding,Matt
