1987 Chevrolet Chevette CS - 25K miles - Amazing Car! 100% Awesome Survivor!
1987 Chevrolet Chevette CS Description
This 1987 Chevrolet Chevette is sure to drag back memories of any 40 year old's childhood!
Once one of the most common cars on the road, now they are nearly non-existent in everyday life.
To be very honest, I bought this car on a whim simply because it was so nice. The car shows 25k-ish miles on the clock and carfax verifies those miles.
The history of the car as I know it and was told by the previous owner and as I know:
*Bought new in New Jersey in 1987*Original owner moved to Proctorville, OH in 2003 and brought the car with her.*Painted by Hamilton Chevrolet in Proctorville, OH sometime in the early 2000s to correct pealing, faded paint.*Original owner died in 2016 and the car was purchased by her friend at the estate sale to be the first car for buyers then 14 year old grandson.*Grandson was mortified at the thought of actually driving it and the parents did not like the lack of safety features so they listed it for sale to generate funds for another car..*I bought it the day they listed it for sale this year on impulse. The car is just amazing and I was immediately captivated by it.
I drove the car home that day (about 40 miles) and have had it out and to town a few other times since. It is a real head turner! People love to pull up next to it at red lights and tell you how much they like it!
Rather than tell you all the good things about the car, I think I will tell you everything that I can think of that is bad -
1) The air blows cool but surely not cold - Not sure if this is normal in Chevettes.2) The rear driver side door lock bolt seems to be disconnected and will not lock the door. I am sure this is just a clip inside the door.3) The headliner is saggy and has been retro-engineered to stay in place using slats. Honestly, it doesn't look bad. I will try to photograph it and add the pics tomorrow.4) The AM radio tuner is unreliable at best. I guess the cable that drives it is loose and it sometimes doesn't want to tune.5) TOP Speed is about 65 or 70 downhill - It is NOT fast6) It is missing two center caps - good luck replacing those.7) Antennae is missing.8) Paint job was a very typical dealership paint job - It is perfectly adequate but not a show car.9) There is an art to starting it - Those used to fuel injection need not apply.10) The rubber trim around the windows is dry rotted and needs replaced.11) This car has sit for most of its life - the more it is now driven expect any problems normally associated with that.
That's it as far as I know. Otherwise the car is great in every way I can tell..
