1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS LS3 Restomod Description

Some of the most extraordinary cars we've ever featured are resto-mod versions of the most popular muscle cars ever made, and perhaps because of their iconic status, their builders seem to go the extra mile. This 1970 Chevelle SS LS3 Restomod convertible, for instance, is absolutely dialed-in everywhere you look, and that's in addition to having a powerful, fuel injected LS3 motor under the hood. Finished less than 2k miles ago, this Chevy droptop is a head-turner that's ready to... dominate for years to come. The Cranberry Red with black stripes color combination is striking, popular, and perfectly suits one of America's finest muscle cars. No car is perfect, but this one is really bloody nice with super-straight bodywork that reflects beautifully under the shiny, deep paint, with only very minor imperfections that can be seen upon closer examination. Even for a big convertible, panel fit is very, very good, with even gaps around the doors and deck lid, and it has been fitted with a cowl-induction hood to add a little aggressiveness. Black stripes are what you want on a red Chevelle and they certainly look fantastic, having been expertly applied to match the factory pattern exactly. Dual headlights and the finished SS grille set the tone up front, and with bright chrome bumpers fore and aft, proper SS badging, shiny wheel arch molding, and all the other little details make this more than just another restomod, but rather an expression of the restorer's craftsmanship and dedication. You can see just about everywhere you look that they tackled the project to make it a bonafide six-figure piece that will stand the test of time for decades; it's simply gorgeous! The stunning red interior is essentially OEM all the way, but the luscious color will make you think that it came out of something a lot more expensive. Newer seat covers on the benches, plush carpets, SS door panels, a crack-free red dash pad, and other soft parts mean that it's like the factory intended inside, and aside from the carpet needing a quick shampoo, it looks almost like new. A 3-spoke steering wheel frames a correct SS instrument cluster, which now contains cool back-lit digital gauges in the factory pods that provide razor-accurate read-outs of the fuel-injected monster that lies ahead. And talk about attention to detail! A retro-sound digital AM/FM radio is in the dash and does a great job impersonating the original stereo, and it powers Pioneer speakers installed throughout the cabin. The black vinyl convertible top looks brand new and lowers itself with the touch of a button and features a correct glass rear window, a nice feature in many GM muscle cars. The trunk is also tidy, with spatter-finish paint, a reproduction mat, and a full-sized spare tire that's also covered with a reproduction mat. The 430 horsepower 6.2L LS3 V8 delivers a powerful wallop of torque at any speed yet with its more street-friendly nature and ever-dependable fuel-injection, it also makes an ideal cruiser. The engine bay is detailed to show standards with all the correct pieces you look for in a restomod, right down to the Corvette valve covers, blacked-out intake manifold, and bright long-tube headers. The list of new components is extensive and it's obvious that the work is quite recent based on the tidiness of everything alone, and with only 1,929 miles on this build, this Chevelle is just getting started. It's backed by a modern AOD 4-speed automatic transmission and a bulletproof rear end, and exhales through a reproduction dual exhaust system that looks and sounds right. There's more new stuff underneath, including the gas tank, and it all looks highly detailed in almost every way. 20-inch American Racing 5-spoke chrome wheels with 245/35/20 front and 275/35/20 rear performance radials at all four corners complete the illusion. Packed with all of the right goodies and finished to a very high standard, this droptop '70 Chevelle is one of the nicest muscle cars we've featured in quite a while. If you like the muscle car look and modern power, this convertible is a stunning no-excuses car. Call today!
