The bodywork is super-straight, the show-ready glossy paint presents beautifully, and the car fits together extremely well, the result of all that time and money spent during the comprehensive restoration. The Arctic White is a very elegant contrast to the bright, cheerful red, and together they give the car a bright glow that is perfect for the era without the heavy metallics we get today. The finish is incredibly sleek with a few shaved emblems, custom molded drip rails, a power rear taillight that opens for fuel access, and the oversized rims fit perfectly inside the wheel wells for an awesome custom look. All the chrome and trim is brand new and absolutely glistening, which also means someone spent enough cash restoring it to put a kid through college. Detailing is crisp, and there are virtually zero flaws in the brightwork, just like the paintwork, which means this is a Tri-5 that absolutely commands attention and is ready to collect some trophies. Inside, the stunning red-and-white leather bucket seat interior is incredibly well done and offers comfort and all the modern conveniences. Supple yet firm red leather with white tops covers both the front and back seats, and the door panels use the same stuff in a custom pattern that definitely shows an artist's touch. The builders refinished the original dash by wrapping it with matching red leather around the machined brightwork, and added Dakota Digital instruments behind a smoked panel, wired up neatly with an American Autowire harness. There's also a billet steering wheel that sits atop an Ididit tilt steering column, and a Lokar shifter built into a slick custom console that also houses an Alpine double din AM/FM/CD/AUX head unit that powers the kickin' stereo and subwoofer/amplifier setup in the trunk. An R134a A/C system has been neatly installed with vents inside the finished panel under the dash and inside the console, there's LED lighting throughout the cabin, and the trunk has been finished to match the high-end interior. A total of $28k was spent on the well-optioned, upscale leather interior, and it shows, it's absolutely dialed-in. Power comes from a beautifully dressed, fuel-injected 350 Ram Jet V8 crate engine that's barely been broken in. Professionally installed and with just 204 miles on the powertrain, it looks and acts like the factory put it there. All the components under the hood are new and include fuel injection and HEI ignition, so it starts and idles like your daily driver and actually pulls down decent fuel economy on the open road. There's chrome and polished pieces everywhere you look, the wiring and plumbing is neatly installed, and with a big aluminum radiator and dual electric fans up front, keeping things cool is no big deal. Underneath there's a slick-shifting Monster 200R4 automatic trasnmission with a 2400 stall convertor to handle all the added power, a nice upgrade over the original 2-speed PowerGlide. Long-tube headers feed a fierce Magnaflow dual exhaust system that sounds fantastic, while the suspension is from Paul Newman's Car Creations C4 Corvette front and rear set-up that means this '55 hardtop drives like a brand new car. It's detailed for show underneath too, with a powdercoated frame and beautifully finished pans to go along with all the bright components, including the power steering system and power four-wheel disc brakes. And to finish the custom look, it rides on a set of 18-inch Budnik wheels wrapped with 245/45/18 front and 275/40/18 rear Goodyear Eagle radials.
