1940 Chevrolet Coupe Description

1940 Chevrolet Coupe

With its wind-swept design and classic good looks, Chevrolet Coupe series has always been a rare and highly desirable line of cars. Not surprisingly, gearheads, customizers and all but 80 years' worth of dedicated fans have elevated it to one of hot rodding's greatest cultural icons.

This completely restored inside and out with a new engine Coupe retains much of its original look and line, but with many upgrades and customizations. A documented photo album chronicles the restoration of this nice driving 1940 Chevy Coupe and shows its rust free beginnings of the build. All steel with the exception of the driver's side rear fender, the restoration began over ten years ago.

Exterior
Orange you glad it's not blue!? Orange pearl, color graces the reworked steel panels and is highlighted by all reconditioned chrome and original badging. An "alligator" hood was used, and the grille bares a strong resemblance to that of the higher-priced Buick. A bulbus trunk is framed on the bottom with a gracefully curved bumper, which allows 2 flared exhaust tips to peek out from below.

Interior
Very recently refinished, it appears brand new. A Black split back bench stretches from door to door. Behind the bench is a storage area that has a custom bowtie design inlaid in material and is carpet lined. Headliner is very clean felt, and door panels use a two-tone gray checked material with plain gray carpeted stripe. A clean metal white painted dash presents very simple and houses green LED digital gauges. Floor is carpeted with gray cut pile.

Drivetrain
Power is provided by a 350ci Chevy engine and Edelbrock Carburetor with three-speed automatic transmission.

Undercarriage
Some surface rust is present, but unremarkable. Rocker panels, fenders, and floor pans are all in very nice condition. One has to look carefully, however the upper body seems a bit out of alignment when viewing the car from the passenger rear. This does not impede the tire in any way, it just has been noted.

The 1940 Chevrolet Master and Special were advertised with the slogan "Royal Clipper Styling." Headlights were melding into fenders, and running boards becoming less prominent. A complete rebuild you could go or show with. Either way, all the work has been done, and you just need to turn the key and drive away!
