1965 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible
The storied Chevelle is one of those timeless designs that looks good no matter how it's built. Stock, modified, race, pro-touring, whatever; the clean lines and balanced stance on these tough classics create a confident swagger that's universally admired. That means, if you're looking to ride in style, you really can't go wrong with a Chevrolet A-Body. And when you factor in this ride's modern drivetrain, tastefully restored interior and first rate, all-American sheetmetal, you get the picturesque profile of an incredible muscle car!
Looking at this beautiful restoration I have shades of the Pacific Coast Highway, driving across the Bixby Bridge, heading to point Lobos to do some Ansel Adams-esque image capturing. Top down, tickling the accelerator, headed north from Big Sur, does life get any better? I give you the inspiration for this memory the Chevy Malibu, right here on the east coast at Classic Auto Mall
Exterior
"98" Chrysler Intense Blue Pearl Paint is so deep it could have Harbour Seals swimming in it. Perfectly restored chrome, grille, brite-work, and topped off with new black canvas top...this is a CAR. Throw on some chromed Cragar Hot wheels styles, and skin them with BFG/TA's and I'm now in the throes of "Little Surfer Girl". How cool is this...?
Interior
All black all new completely restored black vinyl buckets, and a rear bench, and black carpeting make the interior passenger areas a stunner. An inverted V style aluminum dash drips of 60' bowtie styling, and we see an added tachometer replacing the original center gauge cluster, which is flanked by the speedo on wheel left, and a temp, oil, fuel and amp cluster to wheel right. Original pull knobs function perfectly, and we see a couple of hangers in the form of another 3-gauge horizontal cluster, and a Pioneer AM/FM/CD player. Sitting on the back seat is a custom-built speaker case housing 2 woofers and 2 tweeters. I'm fantasizing about Michelle Phillip's cute little overbite belting out "Dedicated to the One I Love".
Drivetrain
A 355ci Mill with a Comp Cam, and a brand new Edelbrock 600CFM Carb to push those fossils to their fiery death, and the eventual spinning of the BFG's and smoke production is attached to a Powerglide automatic transmission.
Undercarriage
Drum brakes front and rear, power steering, and 2-inch Flowmasters, and a 3.43 10-bolt rear, can take you down the road safely, and loudly. You can be secure in the fact that there is a strong frame which was off at one time for the restoration, and a clean rust-free environment.
A frame off completely restored and engine upgraded Chevy Malibu. Not much else to say except now "I'm California Dreamin".
