1969 Chevrolet C20 Custom
There are many questions as to what exactly gives the 3/4 ton pickup reasons for its badging. One is it simply had a larger alternator to power up batteries that would inevitably come with one of those slip in camper backs that abounded in the late 60's and early '70. Other stories about a recently retired couple that bought one, slipped a camper into the back, and proceeded to travel the country. On their first nite out, the wife was cold, and one thing led to another, leading to the theory that the suspension was heavier duty!
Classic Auto Mall presents this excellently restored, frame up job, that has great suspension, a larger alternator, and no slip-on camper in the back bed. However just a beautiful 3/4 ton 1969 example, that will bring a smile to everyone's face, with or without camper...
Exterior
Have a gander at this truck and you'll be seeing Red. Yes, that mile deep paint with glass like finish covers laser straight restored steel panels with near perfect gaps. If you get tired of the red, just look towards the rockers, where a band of steel gray covers this part of the truck. And if you are still at eye catching divide, scan this truck horizontally and you'll see plenty of trim to feast your eyes on, and all in excellent condition. Both rows of which use a black paint inside them to add just a bit more contrast to the red over gray combo. All badging is wonderfully restored, and original grille now perfect with nary a squished bug between its egg crated chromed teeth. The doors sport extra-large rear view mirrors attached with red tripod supports, and covered in chrome...just in case you want to add that camper and travel the country with your wife, testing the suspension. Custom show rims are wrapped by medium knobbies for when you want to get that perfect shot and have to get a little mud on the tires. Last but not least, a new Red Oak factory replacement kit adorns the large cargo bed.
Interior
As one would expect, an excellently restored cloth insert into vinyl bolstered bench stretches from pristine door panel to pristine door panel. Fronting the bench is a perfect red factory dash with all the original gauges, fronted by an immaculate steering wheel all original but restored to the nines. You'll find yourself looking upward to the headliner to be sure your hair is just right or there is nothing in your teeth...it is that shiny.
Drivetrain
Speaking of stunning, pop the large hood and feast your eyes on the perfectly restored 350ci V8 attached to the automatic Turbo 400 transmission, both completely overhauled, although while doing so nothing out of the ordinary was found.
Undercarriage
Mechanical and structural eye candy, carefully cleaned and painted, nary a hint of any rust, even a red rear (that is not from the camper, but I digress!)...and a 35 gallon gas tank.
There are restored trucks then there is this one, that is a true standout at Classic Auto Mall. Meticulously restored from the frame up, using only the best sources, and plenty of blood sweat and tears, we have a virtually showroom truck with a camper badge, and an interesting story to go with this 2 owner, never hit truck, that is waiting for the next exit on the road of life...the good life.
