1937 Chevrolet Master Deluxe Slant Back
Tired of going to all those car shows and looking row after row of the same rodded Fords? You can almost become lulled to sleep with the redundancy of it all. Well, fold up your chair and put those walking shoes on, because you will have to walk a long way to find another one like this one.
For consignment we give you the rare Chevrolet Slantback Master Deluxe. Go ahead try to find another one of these as they have become like hens' teeth. And be still my heart, this one has been rodded, shaved, and bathed in an eye catching Pastel Aqua.
Exterior
An all steel example with some interesting mods to create this rod. Shaved door and trunk handles and covered over trunk, sans spare tire, tinted glass, sleek front fenders which fade into a running board and have 39 Chevrolet headlights hanging from them and we are ready to paint. Which has already been done for you in Pastel Aqua and showing in good condition. For additional visual entertainment, let's throw on a red pinstripe which begins up front at the base of the long radiator grille, in thin form, then curving up to the belt line and running to the rear of this car where it gets fatter. A nice pinstriped flourish is added to the rear swoop, and below we see dual exhausts with chrome tips that have moved to the center. Shiny 5 spoked stamped Cragar wheels with Aqua centers adorn all 4 corners. Oh, and did I mention look ma, no bumpers they've done been shaved too!
Interior
Hit the remote to open the suicide doors, and we see a gray burlap style fabric framed by Aqua painted metal, and dark turquoise armrests. Billet style cranks, and more modern flat door openers have been put on. Dual buckets in the same burlap cloth have several adjustment knobs for comfort. A few areas of slight soiling are noted on the seats. A matching rear bench stretches across from panel to panel and is covered in the same material. An Aqua metal dash with a machined instrument cluster insert fronts a tilt Lecarra steering wheel. A few painted flourishes dance across the front of the dash. A/C and power steering as well as electric windshield wipers have been installed. An overhead console with radio /CD player imbedded within, works its way rearward and is flanked by a tight headliner. On the floors are a teal carpet with some staining, but overall good condition.
Drivetrain
A lift of the cowl and we see a DNJ 305ci V8 Circa 1975. This is topped by a single 4-barrel carburetor, and a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. Power flows rearward top a Ford 9" rear. Catching our eye before we leave is a new totally chromed master cylinder.
Undercarriage
Nearly nonexistent areas of surface rust are seen on a patina black coated undercarriage. Mustang II supplies the front suspension, and the rear is leaf spring. Power disc brakes in front, and power drums are on the rear. Nice and structurally sound for these components to bolt to overall.
From grille to slanted back, running board to running board, and all in-between, we see nice paint, good chrome, fanciful flourishes in pinstripe form, and some shiny Cragars'. A comfortable interior, nifty overhead console, and just a pleasant calming environment, warps you in a cocoon of silence, totally unaware of the storm that's going on outside under the hood. A mod rod, with a curvy bod, wraps it up.
