1957 Chevrolet Corvette Description

This car is equipped with an 1988 Corvette L 98 tuned port injection engine, 700 R 4 automatic transmission, C -4 Suspension, coil-over shocks, air conditioning, AM / FM / MP3 radio (that looks like the original), power rack & pinion steering, power 4 wheel disc brakes, independent front & rear suspension, power windows, power door locks, power lumbar reclining seats, & tilt / tele wheel.

I used an aftermarket body from Antique & Collectable Cars and purchased their frame that was set up for C -4 Suspension front & rear. The frame and rear suspension were narrowed to allow everything to fit without using wider fenders.

All components were inspected and reconditioned as required to assure years of trouble-free driving.

All running gear including the steering column is 1988 Corvette, so the car is all Corvette, just not all 1957 Corvette. The brakes have been checked and the master cylinder replaced with a new unit (not a rebuild)

The hard top has been rebuilt with tinted windows to help the air conditioner do its job better.

The car runs great and I would jump in it today and head for Florida. I have drivenit often in nice weather and have over 6000 miles on it. It is not a show car but is a perfect driver and gets 17.6 MPG around town and over 26 MPG on the road.

For someone to have this car built would cost over $125,000

I have a complete history and build diary on my Flickr photo page so you can read about everything that was done to turn this into a nice, reliable driver.

I have had a question about the soft top, this is a hardtop only car as the larger tires meant that the wheel wells needed to be enlarged which cuts into the area the soft top would fit into.

I also posted pictures of the engine and chassis.
