1966 Chevy Chevelle SS 396 4 speed, with engine and transmission 1967
1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Description
Nice starting point for a project car. I have had this car for a while and have not done anything with it. So, I am looking to re-home it! There are a couple items that I really liked when I purchased it and hopefully, it is going to fill the ticket for the next owner.
The engine is correct for the car. It is a EDH suffix. 325hp, manual transmission block. The vin does not match, but it is dated correctly for a 1966. The engine lacks exhaust manifolds, and bolt ons. It turns over, but I have not opened it up. It is currently on a engine cart.
The transmission is a Muncie 4 speed. The vin on it doesn't match the car, but it is date coded correctly.
There are new front floors and firewall installed previously. There is also a new trunk floor pan in it. The work done on it is real nice. Take a look at the fit on the inner wheel house tubs to the floor. They are super tight. Under the seat there is a couple small holes, but they do not warrant a new floor pan a path would suffice.
The rockers are solid and so are the door pillars. The car is not a rust bucket by no means. The quarter panels should be replaced. I recommend using full quarter panels and than you can get the inside sail. There is some rust on the inside sail. The roof skin looks real nice when it turns into the window channel. Core support is very clean. The frame is real clean. Does not look like the original frame. Has power steering sector on the frame. Not sure if this is original or not.
The interior is missing the front buckets and the center console. I have the rods for the headliner and there is a back seat. There is a variety of chrome and misc. parts in the boxes. Since the car was tore down when I purchased it, I cannot really tell you what is all there and what isn't.
It is a project car, with a 396 and a 4 speed transmission that is dated for 1966. About as close as you can get without it being numbers matching. I looked at the rear end when I received the car, and if I remember correctly, it is a 10 bolt.
I purchased the car for $10k. Looking to get as close to it as I can. I have pole barn full of projects and hoarding cars at 57 is probably not a good idea. Since I never started on this, hopefully, it will be a good starting point for someone.
I am looking at the old ebay ad and that guy advertised the car as Yellow with black leather roof, AC, factory 4 speed, bucket seats, floor console.
You can call me up and I can answer your questions or I can look at the car and answer the questions. I have built cars for many years.
There is a clean title in my name.
I understand shipping arrangements take a while. The car is in storage. I can most likely get the engine in the car for shipping. I will work with you. But, remember, the snow will show in December!!!!
