1965 Chevrolet Caprice Caprice Description

For sale is a 1965 Caprice Custom Sedan. This is the first year for the Caprice. It only came as a four door option for the Impala sport sedan. The window sticker showed it as an Impala sport sedan with a Caprice option package. There were some differences between the Caprice and impala models such as the Caprice had special rubber body mounts which were to be used on 1966 full size models. The frame was different also as it used 33% thicker steel than the 1965 Impala. This Caprice is a very solid car with the only rust issues that I am aware of being in the bottom of the rear windshield beneath the vinyl top on the left and right hand sides. It also has two VERY SMALL holes on the trunk floor and surface rust on the lower portions of the LH rear and RH front door. (See Pictures) There is a very small dent on the LH quarter panel. The car was lightly hit in a parking lot by a car backing out of their parking spot hitting the Caprice at one time but it damaged the RH quarter panel extension cap and moulding. The quarter panel itself seems to have not suffered any damage. The quarter panel extenstion will need to be replaced (this comes off easily by removing four nuts and installing a replacement) along with it's moulding which is available as a reproduction. This car has Power steering; power brakes; tilt steering wheel; 4-way hazard flasher; power windows ( The rear windows are not working); turbo 400 automatic transmission; Tinted glass (there is a very small crack in the windshield); air conditioning; power front seat; factory blue vinyl top; deluxe front seat belts (Drivers seat belt buckle is missing); front and rear bumper guards and AM FM stereo multiplex.Included in this sale is a pair of correct 1965 NOS front deluxe blue seat belts and a NOS front special Caprice header panel emblem assembly and NOS special Caprice trunk emblem assembly. Also included is a NOS rear end moulding #3884028. This is the moulding located just below the trunk lid. This moulding is painted the correct black color and has the correct Caprice name plate attached to it. Also included are four nice wire wheel covers and a NOS Caprice steering wheel horn ring with correct wood inserts. You will also receive a reproduction rear seat Caprice style mesh shelf panel in blue with correct holes for the multiplex speakers. In New York State prior to 1973 cars were never issued a title. The registration card was all that was issued and this is included and just hand it in to your state to receive a title. I am the third owner of this car and I owned it since 1987.This is a very nice 1965 Caprice. It is not perfect and it is not being sold as perfect. This is a car that is 54 years old and was never restored. It needs work but the body is very solid and it has many rare options. It is definately not a rust bucket. This is a car worthy of being restored. This car is worn from age and was never abused. It also needs a tune up. The air conditioner is in need of a charging.I removed the rear bumper over ten years ago and had it rechromed. It is not assembled on the car but it is included with all brackets. The bumper is starting to get some rust in spots and it will need to be re chromed to look perfect. The alternator will also need to be replaced as the dash light comes on. The rear window mouldings and vinyl top moulding are in the trunk. The picture of the small rust holes are shown in the last picture. As you can see they are very small. As you can see from the pictures this is a nice clean unrestored 1965 Caprice which was never abused. If you are looking for a 1965 Caprice this is the perfect car to restore. I was going to restore this car but a divorce is forcing me to sell.It left the factory in 1965 with a 396 325 horse power engine and that engine was replaced with a 325 horsepower 1966 engine by a prior owner. The original transmission slips and needs to be rebuilt. As you can tell from the photos this Caprice was never abused. If you want a 1965 Caprice to restore this is a perfect candidate.
