1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Sport SS Description
1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS 76,360 Miles From New Bone Dry, Rust-Free, Idaho/Montana/North Dakota Car Well-Optioned, See Photo of Original Build Sheet! 305ci 4BBL V8 / TH350 Automatic, Z65 Super Sport Package VIN: 1G1AZ3775DR293290 Assembly Plant: Arlington, Texas Paint: White (11) Interior: Royal Blue Cloth (22G) Axle: 3.42 Ratio (GU6) Engine: 5.0L 305ci 4BBL V8 (L69) Transmission: Turbo Hydramatic 350 Auto (MV4/MX1) Suspension: Sport Handling Package F&R (F41) We purchased this excellent ‘83 Monte Carlo SS from a gentleman in North Dakota. Sold new in St. Maries, Idaho, the car remained in St. Maries all the way until October 2018, when the car sold to Montana and then North Dakota. As it sits now, this is a phenomenally dry, original, honest example in the fantastic white over royal blue colorway. Exterior: - Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Blemishes are all shown close-up, though there are few. Blemishes include some chipping along the rockers consistent with 76k miles of road use, a ding on the passenger quarter, and two small touched-up scratches on the passenger fender. - This car still retains its original paint, as confirmed with a paint gauge. Paint presents very well, and without significant signs of age. Vinyl striping is correct and appears close to new, with no visible aging. - Panel fitment is spot on, and the doors open and close nice and smoothly. Glass is clear and crack-free. Light lenses are all clear and crack-free, and lights and signals are all functional. - Body is free of any bubbling or blistering. This car has been garage-kept in an extremely dry part of the country and it shows. - Body-colored wheels are in nice shape, no curb rash or damage. Just very minor age. BFG Radial T/As are in good shape, with plenty of tread, and the DOT number indicates they were manufactured in 2011. Interior: - Condition of the royal blue cloth interior is pretty impressive. No punctures, tears, burst seams, or fraying both in front and rear. There is a stain on the seat bottom in the rear (see video), aside from that, cloth looks quite good. Blue carpeting is in nice shape, not discolored, stained, or tired-looking. A little age in the dead pedal area, the rest is very nice. The car will also come with a clean set of black SS-branded floormats. Headliner is clean and tight. Dash top has no cracks or warping. Dash top does have a couple pieces of Velcro stuck in the corners with adhesive, as the previous owner kept a blue suede-like dash cover on there, which will also come with the car. Door panels are in excellent shape, free of any kicked-open markings or other damage. Updated Kenwood radio is functional, and has both a USB and AUX outlet. Fan and heat are functional. Air conditioning has been converted from R12 to R134a. The compressor does kick on and cold air does blow out with force, but honestly, it’s so cold in Chicago at the moment that I cannot guarantee that it’s actually blowing AC-cooled air. Regardless, it has been converted to R134 and the compressor does work, so worst case it would need a charge. Gauges are all functional, and the odometer reading of 76,360 is accurate based on known history and impressive original condition. Mechanical / Underbody: - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. This car looks excellent underneath. No through rust whatsoever, hardly even any surface rust to note. No damage either. Mufflers appear to be new or close to it. No exhaust leaks. Car sounds great. - The car runs and drives very well. Truly no tendencies or noises of concern. It starts right up, idles cool and steady, pulls hard through the gears with no hesitation or stuttering, shifts smoothly and on-time, and the ride quality is excellent. No shakes, rattles, pulling under acceleration or braking, wandering at speed, etc. A comfortable, well-sorted, confidence-inspiring driver that could be used for daily-duty if desired.
