'56 Chevy farm truck - we picked this one up at a local farm, after the owner had passed away. This truck had been in the same family since it was nearly new. It was originally used for harvest, and later for seed as equipment got bigger and bigger.
As most of these old trucks, it had sat for awhile, but all we had to do was blow off some dust, and add a battery and some fresh gas. This old truck runs like a top. Idles nice and smooth, good oil pressure, no smoke, etc. The one thing it definitely needs due to the time sitting is a water pump, the seals have dried out and it is leaking. About a 1 hour job, and probably 50 bucks in parts. I would also plan on a new belt, and hoses, and just general maintenance items due to age. The brakes pump up and work on about the third pump, but need some attention. It does have a hydraulic dump bed, but it needs a u-joint in the PTO shaft - very easy to do.
I try to get good pictures, and as you can see, this has a great patina, with the original lettering on the doors. It also has plenty of dings and dents that you would expect from life on a farm, but overall it is very solid.
Basically this is a truck that you could spend a weekend or two on, and have an every day usable truck. Would be great for a small working farm - or really great for advertising, or maybe even a father - son type project. It does have a clear Kansas title.
