The car traded hands twice within the state, but has remained in Indiana since 1995. This is a very nice example that has been continuously exercised and well-serviced through the years. The clean Autocheck report (inquire for a scanned copy) indicates mileage of 20k in 1998, 43k in 2014, and now 59k in 2019. Please see the end of this listing for a summary of service records, but the most noteworthy was a thorough inspection and subsequent service at an Indianapolis Chevy dealer in July of 2018. As it sits now this is a nicely sorted, ready-to-enjoy ‘86 Convertible in need of a new home. Exterior: - Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Blemishes are all highlighted. The most significant thing to be aware of is some slight paint color mismatches; above the body mid line on the doors and hood was resprayed at some point, and it’s a very slightly brighter red than the rest of the car. Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. Even the lower fog lights look great. Weatherstripping is all very nice throughout. No cracking or deformities on the nose or rear panels like we sometimes see on these cars. Doors open and close nice and smoothly, no slamming or anything like that. Original 16” x 9.5” Sawblades are in excellent shape and will come boxed-up with the car, in addition to the current 17” ZR1-style polished wheels. No curb rash, pitting, or other damage….very nice. Goodyear tires were new in 2016 and remain in great shape. Tires have 14k miles on them since being mounted three years ago. Pop-up headlights function as they should, as do all other lights and signals. Black convertible top is excellent. No punctures or significant wear. Interior: Graphite leather contrasts well with the bright red exterior. Seats are in impressive condition. No scuffs, punctures, or other damage. Even the inside of the driver’s outer bolster is very nice. Again, please defer to the video for a good look. Door panels are great, no kicked-open markings or busted armrests. Dash top is perfect. No marks from any old adhesive or anything like that, no cracks or visible age/wear. Black surfaces throughout the lower dash are very well preserved, not faded or scratched-up. Grey carpeting is good not great throughout – minor age, particularly behind the center console, but no big stains or fraying. Grey floormats will come with the car as well and those are in nice shape, and the plastic hard floor mats will come with the car as well. Digital dash display is fully functional, and the odometer is functional as well. Odometer reading of 59k is known to be accurate based on the vehicle history report, service records, and observable wear. Fan and heat are functional. Air conditioning is still on R12 refrigerant, it has not yet been converted to R134a. It is functional though. Radio powers on just fine and the antenna is functional, but the speakers will need attention as sound does not come out. No static, no music. Powered driver’s seat is functional, and these seats are not only in great shape, but extremely comfortable. Mechanical / Underbody: - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. This car is super clean underneath. A highlight of the car. It has been garage kept in a dry environment and it shows. The car runs and drives every bit as well as you would hope and expect from a well-taken-care-of, 59k-mile example. Steering and suspension feel is nice and tight. Truly no tendencies or noises of concern. No leaks either. The car starts right up, idles cool/steady/quiet, pulls hard through the gears with no hesitation, shifts smoothly and on-time, brakes straight and effectively, and the ride quality is very good. No shakes, rattles, pulling under acceleration/braking, steering play, etc. No surprises, this car is well-sorted and ready to enjoy. Service Records (in addition to routine oil changes): August 2016, 45k Miles, Discount Tire: Replace all four tires, Goodyear Eagle F1 AS 275/40R17. February 2018, Simmons Automotive Service, 54,973 Miles: Replace brake master cylinder and power brake booster, bleed. July 2018, Ray Skillman Chevrolet, 55,753 Miles: Spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, thermostat, valve cover gasket, intake gasket, coolant flush, all four brake rotors and pads, oil/filter.
