Selling a beautiful 1986 Corvette Indy 500 pace car. 1986 was a banner year for Corvette enthusiast since it marks the return of the convertible after an 11-year hiatus. The C4 Corvette made a big splash in 1986 when the 86 Corvette convertible not only returned to the line-up but was also selected to pace the Indy 500!

This Corvette Convertible is one of a limited number of Pace Car Replicas so Designated.

The 1986 corvette Idys Pace Car needed no mechanical modifications or special preparation to be accepted as a pace car.

ABS braking systems were now standard on these corvettes. (previously only available on upscale imports).

Rather than producing a set number of pace car replicas, ALL Corvette convertibles were designated as a Pace Car Replica" and came with dealer or customer applied decals for the doors. It introduced a new design and technology in a sports car and had a powerful 5.7 liter V8 that produced around 230 hp. Has around 85, xxx original mileage. It has had two owners in the past, the previous owner bought it from the original owner in 2006. He has a classic car restoration shop here in Monterey CA, and this was sitting in his showroom for more than 10 years. He was a friend of mine that I had done business with many times, and after he passed away in 2016 his wife sold most of his collection to me. The car has been sitting for some time, lucky it was indoors in a temperature-controlled showroom. Paint is in great shape in my opinion, there are no noticeable dents or scratches and the car has never been in any accidents. It appears to be painted once in the past. Tires have a good thread. Lights work, the passenger side headlight gets stuck once in a while (typical issues for these corvettes). The top is starting to show its age although it's not very bad, it's airtight and there are no leaks. The interior is in good shape, has beautiful original blue leather seats. While the car has been sitting the majority of its time, it'll still start right up. Engine idles well and shifts through all the gears smoothly (has quite a bit of power). I wouldn't recommend taking it on long trips until you change the oil, gas, spark plugs, etc. (Please watch the video of the car running). I am not a mechanic but the engine seems strong. There are no types of leaks I have noticed. Car is overall in good condition and a special time in American history. No rust and no accidents. Has a clean California title, and offers a clean carfax.

Selling it as is, the car is located at Dodi Auto Sales if you want to see it!
