1971 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe Description

This investment quality 1971 Chevrolet Corvette retains its numbers matching CPJ Code Cast Iron Head 454/365hp engine and original TH400 transmission.Factory options include Tilt and Telescopic Steering Column, AM/FM Pushbutton Radio, Power Steering, Power Brakes, T-Tops, Luggage Rack, Removable Back Window, Custom Should Belts and Deluxe Black Leather Interior.

This Corvette was my Dad's car for the past 36 years and he only put 1,100 miles on it in that time. Since he got it in 1984, I can remember him doing the following to it.

- Painted it white (Correct color is Steel Cities Gray).

- Replaced the incorrect chrome side pipes with nicer incorrect side pipes.

- Replaced the aluminum slotted wheels with the correct 8" ralley wheels (~25 years ago).

- Replaced the odometer, due to the odometer not working (I still have the original part with 105,100 miles on it)

This is a number’s matching C3 dream Corvette for someone wanting an all original 1971 big block. This car was my fathers and has been in storage (in a garage) and hasn't been licensed since 1999. It does start right up and the transmission shifts as it should. It took me a few weeks to get it started after setting but it did need points/condenser and a fuel pump. I've also changed the oil and filter, new plugs and wires and rebuilt the carb. I have restored a number’s matching 1971 Z/28 and a 1971 Chevelle and I know how important the "numbers" are to some folks. This car will impress those kinds of people. My sister and I are not into restoring this car and will sell when the reserve is met.

There will be some parts that will go with the car and they are listed below.

1) Original Delco 293 BR coil (original to this car).

2) Used original rocker trim for changing the exhaust back to the correct rear exit location.

3) NEW rear exhaust trim and tips (see pictures) I do not know if they are NOS or not, but very nice pieces.

4) Original fuel pump AC fuel pump. Does not work as I just replaced it, but a cool original AC big block fuel pump to show the new owner.

5) The original odometer cluster. It did not work correctly, and he replaced it with a used correct one that has ~ 93K miles on it.

I have listed some additional information on the car below.

TRANSMISSION

-Driver side VIN - C11S116184

I am very certain the rear axle and distributor is also original to this car. I cannot find the distributor number and the rear axle is very faint to read. After driving the car over the weekend, I’d guess it to be the 3:08 gear. The bottom of the car looks good. There seems to have been an engine or transmission oil leak and the bottom of the car is pretty oily. Obviously, there is some surface rust on the bottom that would clean up very nicely after sandblasting the frame. The interior is very nice for its age and both seats are very nice. The paint is driver quality. It has a few chips and some cracks around the headlights which I think is somewhat normal for these cars. I know over the years, my Dad replaced the front control arm bushings and ball joints, but I do not know if he ever had it aligned as it wondered some driving it over the weekend. The headers leak bad and need replaced, they are awful.
