This 1966 Chevrolet C10 short bed combines character, looks, and reliability into an easy to own and drive package that would make a great cruiser for anyone. Fab work is done cleanly and professionally, and everything feels very solid and stable when driving at ride height. It could probably use drop spindles to make it roll at ALL heights without camber and toe-in being affected, but it's covered a bunch of miles as it sits without issue. Frame and chassis set-up is clean, straight, and solid, and the build itself is about 4 years old so everything still feels fresh. Air compressor automatically kicks in when needed to keep the tanks full, and the 4-way individual switches lets you set ride height wherever you want at touch of a button. Center switches work full up and full down, and the pancake is not hooked up at this time. It goes from laying all the way down to full up in about 9 seconds, and drops almost as fast. it has PLENTY of clearance at regular ride height, and just can't be driven at the lowest setting because it is touching the ground in spots. Ride is really nice, and even at a lower settings lets you cruise along the boulevard pretty easily. Handling is light and easy, but without any excess slop you find on most stock trucks. Power steering makes it easy for anyone in the family to steer, and feels very tight on the road. 4-wheel disc brake system works fantastic, and scrubs off speed like nobody's business. No sign of any pulling, grabbing, or excess fade either! It rolls on a full set of staggered 19/20 dual finish rims that show only a few signs of normal use on them. Tires are very good condition Michelin Pilots size 235/35ZR19 up front and 345/45ZR20 out back. Power comes from a 350ci V8 of unknown origin that has a mild cam, 9.5:1 compression, Edelbrock Aluminum intake and carb, a custom polished aluminum radiator, hi-flow waterpump, electric draw cooling fan system, and a good bit of chrome and polished dress-up items. It starts and idles smoothly, with a nice mellow lope. It sounds fantastic through the straight pipe setup, and really barks when you jump on the gas! It runs very cool, and sitting at idle for 30 minutes in the Florida sun with the A/C running only saw the temp stay steady at 195 degrees. Driving, its even less, since it gets some airflow. I have driven the truck about 25 miles to home and back in a mix of Interstate and in-town driving, and it performed as you would expect, with no surprises or issues. The 350 turbo trans with mild shift kit is matched to a Strange spool rear end with 3.73 gears, so 55 is a happy spot when cruising. It drips a little fluid when you park it for a couple days, from both the oil pan and trans pan, but just a few dribbles. Frame is clean and solid, as you can see from the detailed chassis shots. The body is overall quite solid but it does have a few actual rust holes and spots that were cleaned and sealed in by the clearcoat to give it character. Lots of dents, dings, bumps, and bruises acquired over the years were left intact, and it all adds up to one killer looking exterior that never fails to turn heads when cruising in it. I have taken DETAILED and UP CLOSE photos of all the bad spots so you can see what I am referencing. It has been this way for about 4 years, and hasn't become any worse, so I think the cleaning and clear-coating helped. Switch Suspension provided the Cowl mounted hood hinges, and they look and work AMAZING! Highly recommend them to anyone looking for a cleaner hinge set-up. Glass is all good, with only light marks, and one little chip on the driver side about ¼ of the way up shown in the photos. It is about .25" long and 1/8th wide and isn't that big a deal. Trim, chrome, and other bright work is either new, refurbished, or so uniquely original it wasn't worth replacing. Interior is super clean, and has all new carpet protected by vintage clear mats. New sill plates help hold it down. New fuel tank behind the seat has new sending unit and lines. Seat is all new and covered in clean beige leatherette. Door panels have some accent pinstripes on them, are missing a few panel screws, and have a super cool old vibe to them. They have new door pulls and window rollers, and the rubber door seals are soft and pliable. Dash gets pinstriping too, as well as a new billet ball-milled gauge surround with a full set of SHARK PRO gauges including FUEL, OIL, SPEEDO, TACH, WATER AND VOLTS. Everything is working, and the speedo is only off a couple mph from GPS. Vintage Air control panel is easy to reach and the whole system keep the small cabin SUPER cool when cruising!
Dual Easy Street gauges to the right of the dash monitor air in the front and rear, and the little hand noted pressure readings to the side of them are optimal drive height. A chrome iDidit steering column is fit with chrome handles for signals, tilt, and a chrome gear selector. It is topped with a 3-spoke wood rimmed wheel. New chrome rearview, dual visors, working ashtray, and glovebox that needs a new liner round things out. Bed wood is old, but solid and not damaged. It fits the truck perfectly. Tail gate is solid and clean inside and out. Window seals all around are good and work as they should. This is a cool looking truck that drives out well, and will make someone a great cruiser.
