1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS Description

1968 Chevy Camaro SS Clone for Sale
1968 Chevy Camaro SS Clone Low Mile Preservation Tribute Car, 4-Speed, ZZ4, Ice-Cold Air Conditioning
......please be patient while the many photos load.....

We have a fantastic 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS clone for sale that sold new at Butler Chevrolet in Newberg, Oregon on October 6, 1967, and includes its original books, manuals, and Protect-o-Plate.

I don't take in too many Camaros but I knew this one was special when I saw it, the unassuming white over blue, its original vibe coupled with the ZZ4, 4-speed and a very desirable ice-cold air conditioning unit. Tidy & honest, a respectable upgrade to an otherwise already terrific, unmolested car.

Once I lifted the name from the Protect-o-Plate I began to dig a little deeper and found that its original owner to be a very influential writer, a poet and even a mayor at one time. Aside from writing more than 20 books in his lifetime, he wrote many poems of cars and their part in our culture.

Not that a great car isn't good enough, a fascinating original owner attached to it only makes it better. I'll include one of those poems below.

In April of 2009, the car was fitted with a brand new ZZ4 350ci crate engine from Chevrolet of Lake Havasu, Arizona. The actual mileage on the car at that time was noted at 98,312. It has now traveled just 4,000 miles since. It starts, runs and drives beautifully. The shifting is spot on, suspension, power steering and braking (front discs) are excellent and responsive.

The car doesn't rattle, shake or pull. It rides on 15" steel factory rims with caps and trim rings wrapped in classic BF Goodrich raised white letter tires wearing P215/60R15's upfront and P235/60R15's in back. Its beautifully set up and is quite exhilarating yet relaxing to drive.

This particular Camaro left the factory in Van Nuys, California in Ermine White with a blue interior as you see it today less the SS upgrades. It was upgraded by a previous owner in Arizona to this beautifully done Super Sport clone, I suspect that the repaint and cloning likely took place about a decade ago at the time of the engine installation with very limited use since.

The body is super straight, it has beautiful straight quarter panels. (In my video below I walk you around the lower portion of the body with a magnet and it sticks to everything.) The chrome, stainless, glass and trim all look nice.

The alignments are at least as good as the factory and everything opens and shuts nicely. Not to mention an absolutely immaculate undercarriage with beautiful floors and inner-rockers.

Inside it is tidy and comfortable, still wearing some of its original interior with the assumption that some of it has been likely replaced as needed. The seating, door and kick panels, headliner, carpets, parcel shelf, gauges, switches, and knobs all look great.

Everything in the car is working and the air conditioning blows ice cold. An RPM gauge has been added to the right of the steering column and a row of classic VDO gauges are mounted below the dash to monitor oil, voltage, and temperature. It has a Retro style Custom Autosound stereo system with Bluetooth for streaming or chat.

The trunk is tidy with spare, cover and newer factory-style mat. It is a very comfortable car, nothing is needed and ready to enjoy.

This Camaro is a nice and well-executed SS conversion with very little use, an interesting mix of originality and fascinating original owner to boot. It can best be summed up as a totally rust-free, nice driver-quality car that you can enjoy using and be proud of.

The best of all worlds and a terrific value for someone looking for not just any Camaro. Contact Donn with questions, shipping, and financing options. 707-332-8331.
