800HP MERLIN BIG BLOCK 540 V8 200 SHOT NITROUS UPGRADED SUSPENSION ROLL CAGE
1980 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Prostreet Description
The nitrous V8 with 800 horsepower on tap makes this 1980 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Pro Street a true street-eating machine. And as you look through all the details you'll discover a fresh build that has been given all the right investments to make sure this coupe can handle its big power upgrades.
You don't need to be bashful with a car like this, and so it deserves its Screaming Yellow color. This is a build with less than 1,600 miles on it, and so you can instantly understand why the paint is so vibrant. But even with a modern build, it's very cool how they kept this Camaro's history. It has the look of a period-correct Z/28 with the full body kit, including fender flares and full-width spoiler. And the tri-color red stripe package looks awesome. The blackout grille goes with the black on the cowl induction hood. Of course, that hood scoop is much larger than stock. In fact, no one is going to mistake this for anything stock thanks to the bright Centerline wheels that draw extra attention to the awesome stance and extra wide rear rubber.
While we love T-tops on any classic Camaro, these are even cooler. Because when you remove the roof panels, it also shows off the top bars of the NHRA certified six-point roll cage. The bold red bars not only coordinate with the exterior stripes, but they are another reminder that this coupe means business. While the interior feels fresh, what's going to impress you the most are all the competition-ready components. This includes the upgraded racing seats, RJS racing harnesses, and detachable Grant sports steering wheel. The factory gauges have been replaced by large and crisp AutoMeter Sport-Comp units, including the full readout package that now dominates the dash. The center console is now a custom professional setup with a Hurst pistol-grip ratchet shifter, toggle switches, and a push button start. And while this is a full professional setup, there's also an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo to remind you that you can still hang a license plate off the back and enjoy this T-top coupe on a Saturday night.
Under the hood is a beastly motor. But the crisp look also reminds you it's a fresh one with less than 1,600 miles on it. This is a hardy Merlin III 540 cubic-inch big block V8. This has been enhanced and fortified with an Eagle competition forged rotating assembly, Dart Pro 1 aluminum cylinder heads, Comp Cams solid roller camshaft, Moroso fabricated valve covers, ARP bolts, Edelbrock 2927 aluminum intake, and topped with a massive Pro System three-circuit 1200 CFM four-barrel carburetor. Hooker Super Competition headers add even more power while also contributing to the thunder of the dual exhaust. And when you really want to show them all your taillights, there's also a NOS 200-shot nitrous system. A build of this quality also has the right supporting components, like steel-braided hoses, an MSD 7-AL-2 ignition, a high torque starter, and a Griffin Aluminum radiator with electric fans. The big power is connected to a TCI TH400 three-speed with reverse manual body, trans brake, and 3500 stall. This feeds the Ford 9-inch Detroit Locker rear with Strange Engineering 35 spline axles. So you have stout components for powerful take-offs. In fact, this one feel solid all-around thanks to new bushings, QA1 adjustable coilovers, and the reinforced and welded frame. The ladder bar rear end knows how to keep those wide Hoosier tires on the pavement, and the four-wheel disc brakes gives you superior stopping power.
The sale comes complete with maintenance records. While this is a true professional-grade power machine, it has been said that this coupe actually has not yet been to the track for any quarter-mile runs. So the low odometer is more like break-in miles. Will you be the first to get this one to the dragstrip? The only way to do that is to call today!
