520 miles on frame off restoration, #s match!
1963 Chevrolet Corvette Description
Only 521 miles since a meticulous body off the frame restoration to original condition was completed. Very fresh, just finished 2018. We have a pile of receipts and photos documenting the restoration. Rare factory colors, trim tag appears to be original. Early built car (October 13th 1962), has short mirror and tool tray under the seat.
EXTERIOR: Beautiful silver metal flake paint has a very glossy clear coat finish. The body doesn't seem to have any issues. I've been around it twice and don't see a crack or damage. The headlight doors are fiberglass which is 1963 only. They open and close quick too. Correct T-3 headlights were used. The chrome looks like it has all been redone or replaced- the bumpers, taillights, emblems, gas cap, correct antenna, door handles, stubby mirror etc. The stainless trim looks original. Weatherstrips were replaced with yellow glue, just like the factory did. Has knock-off wheels which really dresses these cars up. Radial tires.
INTERIOR: No, that's not black, it's a very dark blue. It is rare and correct to the trim tag. Restored to excellent condition. Upholstery, and cushions were replaced. New door panels and trim- armrests, knobs etc. New carpet front and back, matching floormats. Gauges were restored and function properly, has quartz movement in the clock. 1963 was the only year for the silver cones in the center of each gauge, the sun blinded it's drivers. Wonderbar radio was rebuilt. Mint glovebox door, also unique to 63. Has some light scratches on console trim. Correct shifter reverse lock out shifter. New glovebox liner, has owner's manual. Dash pads are excellent.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Vin # matched 327. Restored to factory specs with the proper components- manifolds, valve covers, dual snorkel air cleaner etc. Has proper carburetor with the choke tube going down to the manifold. Has the proper fuel filter and lines. It has the upper and lower ignition shielding. GM reproduction hoses, clamps, Delco battery with spring clamp cables. Everything looks restored and detailed to show quality factory condition.
UNDERSIDE: The body was removed from the frame. The entire rolling chassis was rebuilt and detailed. New balljoints, bushings, springs, shocks etc. The bottom of the car is clean raw fiberglass like it should be. Has complete spare tire carrier with lock. Brake system was completely rebuilt, new e-brake assembly. New correct dual exhaust system. Bottom of the motor is spotless. Correctly dated T-10 4-speed trans was rebuilt. New linkage. Driveshaft was balanced, u-joints replaced. Original 3.36 posi rear built 8-29-62. You can eat off the bottom of this car. Everything looks like new down to the hardware.
The 1963 Corvette coupe, simply known as a "Split Window", is one of the most iconic collector cars in existence. Really take a moment to appreciate it's lines. It is set on wheels. This is a rare exception that the coupe is much more desirable than a roadster. My dad was selling these as used cars in the early 70s, I would ride in back, no car seat, no seatbelts. One thing for certain, these never go down in value!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
