1951 CHEVROLET BEL AIR HARD TOP DELUXE CHEVY 1950 1952
1951 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Description
This 1951 Chevy was restored approx. 10 years ago and looks like whoever had it done spent a lot of money on it. It has a 235 engine, 12 volt, dual exhaust, Fenton manifold, electric windshield wipers that work good. Have replaced fan belt, points, condenser, dist cap, heavy duty spark plugs, two oil changes and added Lucas. Repaired emergency brake, valve cover gasket and side piston gasket. Does have an oil leak from somewhere. Shifts good, doesn't grind. Is clean and runs great. Compression 140/145 all cylinders. Has good power even when going up a hill. Interior and dash are in really good condition. Brake cylinders are in good condition, stops well and doesn't pull. Tires are older and have good tread. Has new rubbers. Has trunk and glove box keys, does not have key for doors and the key we were given didn't unlock the doors, the doors do lock. When I bought the car it did not have an ignition key but able to turn the ignition by hand then push button to start. All gages work except the fuel gage. Horn (button under dash), lights, blinkers all work. The interior lights by the back seat don't work, might need bulbs. Chrome and stainless inside and out has been polished or replaced. There are a couple of small dings in some of the exterior stainless. The interior stainless strips across the top have been polished or redone and the stainless brackets on the visors was also redone. The original stainless around the windows have a little bit of blistering but look good after I cleaned them with chrome polish and steel wool. Windows roll up and down and have no cracks. I think some of the windows have been replaced. The small back window on the driver's side has some scratches in it. Stops, steers, drives really good. Car has not been lowered like most you see. Behind the driver's seat and on the back seat there are two small tears where someone might have put something in the back. Interior, headliner, and dash are in very nice condition. Undercarriage is in good condition, does have 2 small rust holes on a bracket. The floors are good. The exterior paint has a couple of small bubbles on the bottom of the driver's door and a couple of small chips by the passenger door. Paint looks nice and a great color combination. I think this is the original colors unless the top was black. Manufactured in Georgia and has been in Kentucky most of it's life. We've had the car 18 months and have driven it about 385 miles locally. We are selling car because we are moving soon and I have a problem with left foot so hard to use clutch. We have sold approx. 13-14 classic cars on ebay over the past 20 years or so. The radiator started leaking from the top and I have a new reproduction brass radiator, it just needs to be installed. Car starts up fast, as soon as you touch the button. Mechanic says it looks like the motor has been rebuilt but we don't know how many miles ago. Looks like everything has been gone thru and redone probably when restored about 10 years ago or so. Under the hood is clean. Super nice car. Nicer than most I see at this price.
