1941 Chevrolet Cabriolet Description
Body has been gone over by a retired professional body man and is in primer. Code calls for Mayland Black with red interior. Up to you to decide what color body, top and interior will be.Needs all glass. Have rear glass frame. Many NORS Steele rubber products. There's at least 1.5k worth. Top vacuum tanks in good shape. One top piston rod is slightly bent. They are not stainless steel or chromed. Functional system only. Needs new hoses and tubes
In addition to obvious work such as top, interior, glass and paint, it will need little else. I have NOS brake drums for front wheels but will need to be mounted to the hubs.
The front end has been rebuilt with new parts where needed including shocks and springs. Rear shocks are NOS also. Standard differential. Extra wheel but no tire or inner tube. Bendix master cylinder. Lines are there for use as they are or as patterns, Windshield wiper transmissions are driver quality. Grille and bumpers, bumper guards and trunk guards are driver quality.
If the car meets reserve then displayed accessories go with car. If the car doesn't make reserve then all accessories come off the table.
Floor pans replaced professionally by Klassic Kars in Denver, NCWood in back of rear seat and trunk tray has been replaced.
Dash has a small scratch (above the speedometer )in the wood grain. It is the original (redone) dash with the hole for the top control. I have another dash that has no scratch in the woodgrain except there is no top control hole. (See photo of dash siting in car. I had the wrong dash in there at the time the pic was taken and it was not intended to be set there for display) Buyers option.
The bullnose for hood is bent and must be carefully straightened to proper curve..Grille surrounds and top arms have been re-chromed. Park lights are NOS but oldHave Wirey Joe wiring harness that goes with the car. Radio is 41 but needs work to include buttonsHave all trim except a few pieces above the grille.Have enough clips and chrome holders except the hold strips behind doors.
Engine is rebuilt by an auto machine shop in Nashville, TN. Engine owner sold his car and sold the engine to me. It is the basic 1941 216. I have a used 235 post 1954 and a school bus 261 out of a school bus with 3K miles on it. 261 is stuck. I will substitute either for the 216. Buyers call. Rebuilt carburetor by American Carburetor of Jacksonville, FS. NOS battery tray, NOS Starter with reverse polarity (no wiring). proper distributor, good period generator.
If buyer comes and gets the car then there are some free extra mechanical parts.
Accessory Flying Lady hood ornament needs re-chrome.
Two used gas tanks. Tires are old, yellowed and not suitable for extended travel. Two front seat frames. Both need some work to repair rust out on bottom edge. Adjustment set is in good shape. Seat springs are fair but may need some work before recovering. Door and rear seat sides are available but need blasting and recovering,
The door windows need a part or two. A friend is fabricating one piece that I can't find.
This is a once in a lifetime good deal. Money is just a detail.
