1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Description

Projects like this don’t come around too often anymore so pay attention.

This is a REAL red with red interior SS396 4 speed buckets seats with console AND AC car. If ’67 Chevelles’ excite you then you better sit down and drink this one in. This was a customers car that ran into bad times and I wound up owning it and just don’t have any more time to devote to it so I am offering it up to the dogs of ebay.

The cars original frame has been taken out from under the body, blasted, cleaned, prepped, primed with 2 coats of black epoxy primer and painted in the correct semi-gloss chassis black from Eastwood then the body was reinstalled with all new body biscuits all around. The floors were replaced with a full floor firewall to trunk. The correct 4 speed hump was installed along with new bucket seat brackets. I did not install the console brackets as he had no console and I need it to install them. New 4 speed consoles are readily available. The trunk floor was also replaced but not the drop offs as they were still good. The lower rear quarters behind tire on both sides had to be cut out and new pieces welded in. The seam has been bodyworked on inside of trunk so you cant tell. The deck filler panel between trunk opening and rear window was also replaced. There is very little rust left to deal with on this car. One of the fenders has a quarter sized hole at bottom dogleg and the upper part of rear window at roof needs attention. The trunk lid was acid dipped so it is now rust free. Both inner front fenders were blasted, primed and painted as was the radiator support, fire wall and the front bumper brackets. The doors and rockers are nice and the hood and inserts are new. The grill, front bumper, deck lid rear trim, seat tracks and emblems are also new. All the trim is present and it is in good shape. I also have all 4 window regulators and both quarter glasses and rear glass but no door glass or windshield. I also have all 3 AC boxes but no other AC related parts.

The front sheetmetal is NOT fully adjusted so the gaps arent great but this is a really super straight car.

The best part of this car is it is still wearing most of its original paint! Its getting thin on the roof and there are a few bad spots here and there but the patina is authentic and it looks amazing to be over 50 years old. They are only orig once. The parts of the car that aren’t are the deck lid, deck filler panel, lower quarters and cowl panel. They are sprayed in a tinted sealer for the time being. There are a few whiskey dents here and there but nothing that cant be worked out. Someone did take a pick ax and punch two holes in the pass door! No idea why but they can also be repaired.

Most all of the heavy lifting is done on this car and its ready to be taken to the next level by my shop or the shop of your choosing. I don’t know for sure but it appears to have its original engine and Muncie M20 transmission with orig shifter and rods. The stampings on the block are hard to read but I can barely make out an “E” as the 1st character of the 2 digit block suffix code which would be correct for this car. It’s a 3902406 casting which is correct for 1966/67 396. Its sitting on wood blocks as I couldnt find the motor mounts. It also has the original 3904390 heads (correctly dated for the build date of this car), orig exhaust manifolds, oil pan, timing chain cover, valve covers, 3866948 Holley intake with orig Holley carb and orig 1111169 distributor. The block is still standard bore and the crank is freshly turned .010/.010. The crank and rods are out of the block so the bore is easy to measure. It came with power steering and manual drum brakes but the power steering box worm gear was broke so I put in a manual box just to be able to steer it. The 12 bolt rear end also appears to be orig. I haven’t looked for the 2 digit code so I don’t know what gear it is. The wheels are 15” rallys and the tires are good but not new.

If you don’t see it in the pics I don’t have it. If your looking for a 1967 Chevelle SS 396 project car it doesn’t get much better than this so don’t let it get away or you’ll hate yourself in the morning.
