Purchased new on the 15th of October in 1969 by the original owner, he drove it an average of only about 875 miles per year for a total of just 43,768 Miles! This amazing example of an unaltered and unrestored original 1969 Coupe is going to make someone truly proud to own. It is finished with the factory original paint, "Riverside Gold" with Black Vinyl Interior. It has the original (and Numbers Matching) 350 Cubic Inch, 300 Horsepower Engine with the M-40 Turbo Hydra-Matic Automatic Transmission. Other options include Power Steering and Brakes, AM/FM Radio, and Soft Ray Tinted Glass. This "Original" Corvette has never been restored. It has been well cared for by the original owner, used sparingly over the years, and kept in his home garage on a carpeted floor. The overall presentation is simply "unaltered/unrestored original". The original paint has various flaws and untouched chips expected with the passage of time and use. There are no major body flaws or damaged areas noted. The interior is excellent and original. The frame appears solid overall (apparently a rust shield coating was applied when new). This coating has deteriorated with time and normal age-appropriate scaling is apparent. Mechanical notes: The engine compartment is original (the smog pump had been removed many years ago, and will be included with the sale). During storage, the battery was removed. Before bringing it to ClassicAuto Showplace, the battery was re-installed, and it started effortlessly and runs as it should. Please note that this Corvette has not been "detailed", prepped, or cleaned up. This is exactly as it came out of the original owner's garage to us. We are told that it was started and driven short distances on a regular basis every year. It is noted that the mufflers have deteriorated and will need to be replaced. Everything works including the very cool Fiber Optic interior lights for the blinker and outside light functions. The original documents included are pictured and include the "Protecto-Plate", the Owners Manual, the AM-FM Radio Instruction Booklet, the Original sun visor wrap guide for the new GM Ignition Lock System and Engine Starting Procedures. Credited with the innovative design of the 1969 Corvette exterior door handle, our seller had a nearly 40-year career at GM, retiring as head of design staff at the GM Tech Center in 1983. Even at 95 years old, he was an excellent steward to have had the ownership of this Corvette for 50 years, and now his family hopes to find someone to provide the care that he did.
